Student answer (Band 6.0)
There is an ongoing debate regarding a preserving old things such as buildings and halls. Many people think that these old buildings and art galleries should be restored even though its expensive. I agree with these view because they have there own value and become tourist place. Others think that government should remove these old buildings and make new modern buildings.
In the former view people think its should be preserved for history value because there are number of advantages for having old heritage in the society. The most important reason is that they have their own value and these buildings become tourist place for people. If people visit this old galleries they know more about our culture and history. Because of that many individual can get employment also some small business open near by old buildings that encouraging thought for people. Even though it is costly but government can earn money too from outside visitors visiting fees and people will donate too to preserved these place. For example, foreign people visit these place they can contribute to preserving these type of old buildings and art museum
In the latter view, people believe these can replay by modern building have there own advantage. To begin with, some time making new mall or city center for people will increased services in the society. Because old building does not create value for local people. They want something that helpful for them by using some facilities or services in this modern era. For example, people want to make garden at the place of old galleries, which is significant for local people for physical activity.
To conclude and give my opinion about preserving old places have many advantages for and against. However, I believe that they more advantages for next generations because they understand culture and history value and making tourist place also many benefit for nations.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the economic benefits of tourism for restoration and the utility of modern infrastructure for local needs. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. For instance, the argument regarding 'tourist places' is mentioned multiple times without significant expansion. To reach a higher band, you should aim to provide more specific, nuanced examples or deeper analysis of the societal impact of these buildings. The position is consistent throughout, but the conclusion could be more effectively linked to the main body arguments to provide a stronger summary.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. There is a basic attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'In the former view', 'To begin with', and 'To conclude'. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly unnatural, such as the transition 'In the latter view, people believe these can replay by modern building'. Additionally, referencing is occasionally unclear, and the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words to show more sophisticated relationships between ideas. Paragraphing is present and appropriate for the task.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to express your ideas clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'heritage', 'restored', and 'modern era'. However, there is a lack of range and precision. You rely on simple, repetitive phrasing such as 'old buildings' and 'new modern buildings'. There are also several errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'these can replay by modern building' (should be 'replaced by') and 'encouraging thought for people'. To improve, focus on using more varied synonyms and collocations to demonstrate a more flexible command of the language.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('these view', 'these place'), incorrect verb forms ('these can replay'), and missing articles ('making new mall'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While you attempt complex sentences, they often contain errors that detract from the overall quality. To achieve a higher score, focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and ensuring that complex structures are formed correctly.
