Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While the arguments for preservation are supported by examples like the Taj Mahal, the discussion regarding modern buildings is less developed and ends abruptly. The conclusion is incomplete, which impacts the overall task completion. To improve, ensure that both viewpoints are balanced in terms of depth and that the essay reaches a full, coherent conclusion. The ideas are relevant, but the lack of a finished summary prevents a higher score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally repetitive. There are issues with sentence flow, particularly in the third paragraph where the text is broken by an incomplete thought. The transition between the introduction and the body paragraphs is functional, but the lack of a proper conclusion significantly disrupts the logical progression of the argument. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph flows smoothly into the next would enhance the coherence of the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express basic ideas. There are some attempts to use more specific terminology, such as 'authenticity' and 'aesthetics,' but there are also frequent errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'maintalence' instead of 'maintenance' and 'tecnological' instead of 'technological.' Some phrases are slightly awkward, such as 'hand creativity' and 'upgrowing development.' To reach a higher band, the student should focus on accurate spelling and more precise collocations, moving beyond basic descriptive language to more sophisticated academic vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'Government wants' instead of 'Governments want'), missing articles, and incorrect word forms (e.g., 'moderning' instead of 'modernizing'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some sentences lacking proper closure. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to be noticeable. To improve, the student should practice proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and work on constructing more complex sentences with greater precision.
