Student answer (Band 6.0)
Due to advance technology, Culture and history are not much important among young generation. Few people believe that old buildings should be preserves while others think about that, it should be converted into skyrise building. In my point of view, although we can preserve our culture and history through old buildings, People also wants to live in modern building so they need space to build it.
On the other hand, Culture and history play significant role in our lives so we have to preserved old building with artefacts and museum. Its very costly to maintain because nobody will pay and visit this place so government has to cover with cost from tax, as a result people can visit place without fees and after they will transfer our roots knowledge to next generation. Moreover, tourist also visiting this kind of building so it will help to uplift our nation's economy. In India, for instance, There is huge old building, which contains our war based history, which is very popular among tourist and its very crowded place during summer vacation. Furthermore, Old people and children would like to spend time to visiting this buildings so it kind of entertainment for them.
On the other hand, People are prefer to live in modern building instead of old one because they can come across latest amenities and access with the modern facilities. Some of the old building is becoming under construction so might be its going to fall down so there is risk. Hence, it better to build new building therefore we can save others people's life. Additionally, Culture and history has its own important. However, people's life is more important than it, we can transfer artefact, and other important things into museum. Furthermore, Most of people are coming in urban area for better future so we also need more space in city to build house for them.
In conclusion, despite the fact that, people are choosing modern building for better future and city does not have space for people to stay there, culture and history are very imperative in our life's to preserving old building.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat inconsistent. While the benefits of preserving old buildings are supported with an example from India, the argument for modern buildings is less developed and relies on generalisations about safety and urban space. The position is clear throughout, but the conclusion is slightly repetitive and does not fully synthesise the arguments presented. To reach a higher band, ensure that each supporting point is fully explained with logical consequences rather than just stated.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or inaccurate. For example, the use of 'On the other hand' is repeated at the start of the second and third paragraphs, which is confusing as both paragraphs present different sides of the argument. Additionally, some transitions are abrupt, such as 'Hence, it better to build new building therefore we can save others people's life.' Improving the variety and precision of linking words would enhance the flow of the essay.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but there are frequent errors in word choice and collocation that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'skyrise building' instead of 'skyscrapers', 'war based history' instead of 'military history', and 'transfer our roots knowledge' instead of 'pass down our cultural heritage'. While the student attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'artefacts' and 'amenities', the overall range is limited. More precise and natural phrasing is needed to move beyond a band 6 level.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('Culture and history are not much important'), article usage ('the government has to cover with cost'), and pluralisation ('tourist also visiting'). There are also errors in tense and word form, such as 'we have to preserved old building'. While these errors do not completely prevent the reader from understanding the message, they are frequent enough to be noticeable and impact the overall fluency of the writing.
