Student answer (Band 5.5)

OLD BUILDING

The city planning for makeover of the city infrastructure / Building. They conducted an survey for knowing what citizen of the city wanted to do or get done.

There is a recently budget allocated for the city development, to get what they need. People are divide into two group, where in which, one group which are old age or mid age who lived their most city want the old building to restored, refurbished them into new, make it utility for general people. Converting mainly them for public like library in which student can study for exam particular very silent environment, help the city develope better mind, which than contribute to our economy by paying more tax by earning more. They are demanding the old building to converted into community halls. There can be wide activity that can be done, for example, all celebration, festivals, weekly Education seminars. Vice versa. Old building can also act as a city own heritage site.

Their is an other group on 2nd group, mostly of young student. Gen-z, they want the old buildings to be destroyed, new age building are build. They want the city to bring new age design, make them in iconic structure like Bruj khalifa of dubai.

They want to make the city old to be replaced by new structure for new purpose. Tourism can be increased due it, got more people come, more tax and local bussiness get flurish. Your the old very dirty market place to be completed destroyed and made into new, very efecient, cleared structure. People get modernized they way of living like people of Europe.

My opiron on this, that both groups are partially correct, like both ideology is good. They want according to their point view. I think old building which are very iconic must be refurbished so their historic value can be preserved. Old office building of public use, which cannot be refurbished or re do must be demolished and

make mordern building. New technological enhancment. To make the Skyline beautiful. Also the local market is completely mess as of today, so new planning and plotting must be done for hygenic & clearliness bought to market. So people adore to come and visit, helping local produce.

City should think and classify which building can be still used based on their corrent condition, which are one's that need complete demolition. I support both group, they very good idea behind their opinion.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. While you mention benefits like economic growth and tourism, the arguments lack depth and specific supporting evidence. The structure is clear, but the content is occasionally repetitive. To improve, ensure that each body paragraph focuses on a single, well-developed argument rather than listing several points briefly. The conclusion effectively summarizes your stance, but the overall task response would benefit from more sophisticated reasoning and a more formal tone throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of ideas. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'Vice versa' used incorrectly to transition between ideas, or 'Their is an other group on 2nd group'. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the flow between sentences is occasionally disjointed. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'furthermore', 'consequently', 'in contrast') more naturally and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that guides the reader through your argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and incorrect word choices, such as 'make it utility for general people' and 'local bussiness get flurish'. Some terms are used repetitively, and there are noticeable spelling errors (e.g., 'opiron', 'mordern', 'hygenic'). To improve, focus on learning collocations and using more academic vocabulary to express your ideas. Avoid informal or fragmented phrasing and aim for more precise terminology when discussing urban planning and heritage.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'People are divide'), incorrect article usage, and sentence fragments (e.g., 'Old office building... must be demolished and make mordern building'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some sentences lacking proper structure. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents a higher score. Focus on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and ensuring that every sentence has a clear subject and a complete verb phrase.
