Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you provide examples, such as the mention of Toronto and cities in India, they are not fully elaborated to support the arguments effectively. The conclusion is incomplete, which impacts the overall task response. To reach a higher band, ensure that your arguments are fully extended with more logical depth and that your conclusion provides a comprehensive summary of your position. The essay structure is present, but the lack of a finished conclusion prevents a higher score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some cohesive devices like 'On the one hand', 'On the flip side', and 'In addition'. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly inaccurate, such as 'secondly, to construct new building is very cheap'. The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the flow is occasionally interrupted by grammatical errors and awkward phrasing. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring they are used naturally will help improve the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on basic terms like 'old buildings', 'new buildings', and 'give financial help'. There are also some word-choice errors, such as 'digital equipments' (equipment is uncountable) and 'demolished the old building is'. To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary related to urban planning, heritage, and economic development. Avoid repeating the same phrases and focus on using more precise collocations to express your ideas more effectively.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('few people thin', 'its define our culture'), missing articles ('in Canada the there is lots of old villa'), and incorrect verb forms ('to restored', 'they doing cleaning'). These errors are noticeable and occasionally make the text difficult to read. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and the correct use of articles. Proofreading your work for these common slips will significantly improve your accuracy.
