Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is widely debated whether authoritizes should restore old buildings, such as town halls and art galleries or whether they should replace them with new ones. From my perspective, old historical buildings can offer education to young people about traditional culture and customes.

On the one hand, one major benefit of storing old buildings is that modern generations can easily learn regarding past hisotry of any countries, which could help them gain knowledge and improve their general knowledge. Furthermore, art galleries allow people to see different painting styles, which have done by artists, and some paintings may tell the real story of person, animals or even nature.

On the other side, Others argue that governments should replace them with new, modern buildings due to it can attract new tourists to visit these buildings. These means that visitors would spend money in areas such as hotel and restaurant, which could may boost economy, create employment opportunities , and help local people to improve the standered of living. For instance, a group of tourists who has visited nigra fall and spent money on such things, food. Consequently, local public are more likely to use these funds to fulfil their basic necessities.

To conclude, although moden buildings may play an essential role to create employment opportunities and improve standerd of living, I firmly argue that governments should not replace them with new buildings owing to it can provide young people with education and knowldege, particularly town halls and art galleries where they can see real artist skills.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion in the introduction and conclusion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding modern buildings attracting tourists is supported by a vague example about 'nigra fall' (Niagara Falls), which is not clearly linked to the concept of replacing old buildings with modern ones. The discussion of the benefits of old buildings is also a bit repetitive, focusing primarily on general knowledge. To reach a higher band, you should provide more specific, well-developed examples and ensure that your reasoning is logically connected to the prompt throughout the essay.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'On the one hand,' 'Furthermore,' and 'To conclude,' which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'These means that' and 'due to it can.' The referencing is occasionally unclear, which affects the flow of ideas. Improving the variety of cohesive devices and ensuring they are used with greater precision would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks range and precision. There are several spelling errors, such as 'authoritizes' (authorities), 'hisotry' (history), 'customes' (customs), 'standered' (standard), and 'knowldege' (knowledge). Additionally, some word choices are imprecise, such as 'storing' instead of 'restoring' and 'real artist skills' instead of 'artistic craftsmanship.' While the meaning is generally clear, these errors and the limited range of vocabulary prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on accurate spelling and learning more sophisticated collocations would be beneficial.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the reader's understanding. Examples include 'which have done by artists' (passive voice error), 'due to it can attract' (incorrect prepositional phrase usage), and 'a group of tourists who has visited' (subject-verb agreement error). While the meaning is usually discernible, the frequency of these errors indicates a lack of control over complex structures. You should focus on mastering basic sentence construction and subject-verb agreement before attempting more complex grammatical forms.
