Student answer (Band 5.0)
many individuals thinks that ancient buildings, such as town halls and art galleries should be restored , even though it's costly. on the other hand, some argues that governments should replace them with new, modern buildings. i will discuss both views and opinions in the upcoming paragraphs.
I would like to discuss about why we have to restored our old buildings because we can learn about our old culture ,morals and values . even though it costly ,it's fine because if they demolish that how our new generation will know about old sculptures, they even don't know how the old buildings look like so we have save our old art galleries .
on the other hand government should replace them with new buildings . firstly, it's a good idea if they replace it with new building but how they show the feeling, emotions and gesture in new buildings? secondly it look nice when they build it new but what is the motive behind it , it took too much cost to build new one.
so, my opinion in this topic is that we have to restored our old buildings, art galleries and town halls because our new generation will know the value, ethics and morals and it doesn't matter if it costly because if the government should replace them it should be ore costly.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses both views and provides a clear opinion. However, the ideas are under-developed and lack specific examples or depth. The arguments regarding the 'feelings' of buildings are vague, and the reasoning for restoration is repetitive. Furthermore, the response is significantly under the 250-word minimum requirement (224 words), which limits the ability to fully develop the response. To improve, you should expand on your points with concrete examples, such as mentioning a specific historical landmark or explaining the economic benefits of tourism associated with heritage sites.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes inaccurate (e.g., 'firstly' and 'secondly' are used, but the subsequent points are not clearly linked to the argument). The transition between the introduction and the body paragraphs is abrupt. To improve, use a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that directly relates to the prompt.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. Words like 'old', 'new', and 'costly' are used frequently throughout the text. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'discuss about' (should be 'discuss') and 'ore costly' (likely a typo for 'more'). The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas clearly. You should aim to use more precise synonyms and academic collocations to improve the sophistication of your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the essay, including subject-verb agreement issues ('many individuals thinks', 'some argues') and tense inconsistencies ('we have to restored'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with spaces missing before commas and improper capitalization at the start of sentences. The sentence structures are mostly simple or contain errors when attempting complex forms. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and proofreading for punctuation and capitalization errors.
