Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For example, the argument regarding economic growth through tourism is a good point, but the supporting evidence—a 'UK pool government' survey—is vague and lacks credibility. Similarly, the second body paragraph relies on anecdotal evidence about 'Hindustan magazine' to support the preference for modern buildings. The conclusion is incomplete, cutting off mid-sentence, which prevents a full summary of the position. To reach a higher band, ensure that arguments are fully extended with more logical reasoning rather than relying on questionable statistics.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'As per as, I consider' are non-standard and disrupt the flow. There are also issues with referencing; for instance, the transition between the discussion of old buildings and the shift to modern ones is abrupt. The final paragraph is incomplete, which significantly impacts the overall coherence of the essay. Improving the variety and accuracy of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, logical progression would improve the score.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward word choices and incorrect collocations, such as 'alter in new', 'streaming older building', and 'UK pool government'. The student attempts to use some academic vocabulary, but these attempts are often imprecise or misused. Spelling is generally acceptable, but the overall range is limited, and the repetition of basic phrases like 'living standard' and 'modern buildings' restricts the ability to convey more nuanced ideas.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there is a high frequency of grammatical errors. Frequent issues include subject-verb agreement ('authority need to restored'), incorrect verb forms ('folks will getting'), and missing articles or prepositions. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas. While the meaning is generally clear despite these errors, the lack of control over complex structures prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors would be beneficial.
