Student answer (Band 6.0)
Old buildings and art galleries play pivotal role in the history of the nation. Some people believe that government need to preserve these buildings, even though this can be costly. Whereas others believe that government should replace them with new, modern buildings. I will discuss both views in upcoming paragraphs.
To begin with, people who think old buildings need to preserved have their own reasons. First and foremost, old buildings such as town halls and art galleries show our history of the nation and helpful for the young generation to know about our past, so these building need to be restored. Secondly, these buildings are main tourist attraction for the people who come from other countries to explore the nation, which is helpful to enhance economic growth of the nation. For example, tourist spend money to buy tickets to visit some art gallery as well as also like to buy some local products.
On the other hand, individuals who think governments should replace them with new, modern building have their own reasons. Firstly, some of these buildings are too old and need a lot of money to restored which they think it is waste of money, so government should replace them. Apart from this, they think nowadays most of the people interested to visit and see something new rather than old building, so government should need to replace them.
In conclusion, no doubt old buildings are important and helps people know about the history but these building also need large sum of money to be maintained, so government should need to aware individuals how they preserve and take care of these buildings for our upcoming generation.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both views and provides an opinion, though the opinion is somewhat weak and lacks depth. The ideas are relevant, such as the historical value of buildings versus the economic burden of maintenance. However, the development is limited; for instance, the argument regarding modern buildings is repetitive and lacks specific examples. The conclusion does not clearly state your final stance, which is a requirement for a higher band. To improve, ensure that your position is clearly stated in the introduction and consistently supported throughout the essay with more detailed explanations and concrete examples.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the argument. You use basic cohesive devices like 'To begin with', 'Secondly', and 'On the other hand' to signal transitions. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the use of referencing is occasionally unclear. For example, in the conclusion, the sentence structure is a bit disjointed, making the final summary feel rushed. To reach a higher band, work on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that connects back to the main prompt.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your meaning clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'economic growth', 'tourist attraction', and 'maintained'. However, there is a lack of flexibility and precision. You repeat words like 'buildings', 'government', and 'nation' frequently. There are also some minor collocation errors, such as 'need to preserved' instead of 'need to be preserved' and 'need a lot of money to restored' instead of 'need a lot of money to be restored'. Expanding your range of synonyms and focusing on correct word forms would significantly improve your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors that affect the accuracy of your writing. Common issues include missing auxiliary verbs (e.g., 'government need to preserve' instead of 'governments need to preserve') and incorrect passive voice constructions (e.g., 'need to restored'). Punctuation is generally functional, but some sentences are slightly awkward. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct formation of passive structures, which are essential when discussing public policy and building restoration.
