Student answer (Band 6.5)
Historic buildings are the pride of a nation and must be preserved. It is a going debate about replacing town halls with modern towers, however some people believe vintage halls and galleries should be restored despite of high maintantience cost. I firmly agree to protect and preserve old building, as they are pride and value for the citizens.
Government vision is always progressive and focuses on developments in the country. It is very necessary to allocate budget for reserving iconic buildings of the country. To cite an example, the art galleries displays extraodinary work of different artists. Those works have a connection between the artist and their culture, which must be preserved over a long period of time. Local ministry should operates this sites and generate revenue from tourists. It will benefit the economy as well as income will be generated. The governing body should use the income to restore building and no additional money will be required.
There are several demerits of restoring old building which can not be overlooked. Firstly, constructing residential towers on the space occupied can help to provide homes opportunities to various citizens. For instance, many people resides in vulnerable houses and they can own a well constructed flat. Secondly, youngsters are not a big fan of art galleries. The area can be utilize for creating sporting facilities which can attract large number of youngster.
To conclude, saving old galleries and halls is very necessary to maintain country's culture. The modern revolution has changed people's attitude towards ancient culture and building, but education institution must encourage kids to learn about history. I believe government should play a vital role in restoring the heritage building and citizens must cooperate.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both the restoration of historic buildings and the alternative of modern development. You clearly state your position in the introduction and maintain it throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While you provide reasons for preserving buildings, the arguments for replacement are less detailed and rely on generalisations, such as the claim that 'youngsters are not a big fan of art galleries.' To reach a higher band, ensure that both sides of the argument are explored with equal depth and provide more specific, nuanced examples to support your points.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organised into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. You use basic cohesive devices like 'Firstly,' 'Secondly,' and 'To conclude' to guide the reader. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where referencing is slightly unclear, such as in the second paragraph where the connection between 'local ministry' and 'this sites' is grammatically awkward. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the overall cohesion of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'progressive,' 'vulnerable,' and 'heritage.' However, there are several spelling errors ('maintantience,' 'extraodinary,' 'utilize' used incorrectly as a verb form) and minor collocation issues, such as 'provide homes opportunities' and 'no additional money will be required.' While these errors do not impede communication, they limit the precision of your expression. To improve, focus on learning the correct spelling of common academic terms and pay closer attention to word combinations (collocations).
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('many people resides,' 'galleries displays,' 'local ministry should operates') and errors with prepositions ('despite of'). While your meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors in basic grammar prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. You should focus on proofreading your work specifically for subject-verb agreement and ensuring that complex sentence structures are constructed accurately.
