Student answer (Band 5.5)
In this new era, buildings plays an imperative role in each and every country because many of people get inspiration from them. According to this given statement certain people believe that old buildings like town halls and art galleries should be restored and expensive while other believes that high authorities should do reconstruct these building. I will discuss these both views and my own opinion in upcoming paragraphs.
On one side, people think old building should be costly and restored because it will help to people to gain more knowledge about more things like if in galleries government will restore new things regarding history and new inventions then it will provide more deep information to individuals. Due to it, cast also will be increased because these restoring things will need more money to implement in galleries and town halls. So, to manage all things perfectly it will need to be costly.
On other side of this statement, if government would rebuild new modern building on the place of old buildings it will help more to society because firstly, it will enhance the beauty of the place and attract to people to visit and see the buildings. Secondly, it will help to local people to establish their new business or help to get job because if more visitors will visit that places then there local businesses will improve and more people will get jobs and earn more by selling things and food.
Conclusion. it is last but not least I personally like second statement because it will help to decline joblessness and enhance the beauty of places. Because nowadays, people are interested to see new things and buildings. So, government should for with second view of statement instead of restoring things in old buildings.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument for restoring old buildings is vague, focusing on 'gaining knowledge' without explaining the cultural or historical significance. The argument for new buildings is better developed with a focus on economic benefits, but the reasoning remains repetitive. To reach a higher band, you should provide more specific examples or deeper analysis of why these buildings hold value, rather than relying on general statements. The position is consistent, but the overall depth of the discussion is insufficient for a higher score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'On one side' and 'On other side of this statement' are used, but the transitions between sentences within paragraphs are sometimes abrupt. The referencing is occasionally unclear, such as 'Due to it, cast also will be increased', where the connection to the previous sentence is weak. Paragraphing is present, but the logical progression of ideas within the paragraphs could be smoother to ensure a more natural flow of information.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are several instances of awkward word choices, such as 'restoring things' instead of 'restoration' and 'cast' instead of 'cost'. The phrase 'high authorities' is slightly unnatural in this context. While the meaning is generally clear, the range of vocabulary is limited, and there is a reliance on basic, repetitive language. To improve, you should focus on using more precise collocations and academic vocabulary related to urban planning and heritage conservation.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('buildings plays', 'other believes') and incorrect article usage ('the place of old buildings'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly in the conclusion where 'Conclusion. it is last but not least' is used incorrectly. While the meaning is usually understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement would be highly beneficial.
