Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the cultural significance of historical buildings and the practical benefits of modern architecture. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding the 'financial balance' in the conclusion is introduced too late to be fully explored. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your supporting points with more detailed explanations or specific examples earlier in the body paragraphs, ensuring the position is consistently developed throughout the essay rather than just stated.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'On the one hand' and 'In conclusion', to signal the structure. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or inaccurate, such as the awkward transition 'in the contrast' or the repetitive use of 'and' to connect clauses. Additionally, some sentences lack clear logical flow, such as the final sentence of the conclusion, which is a run-on sentence that obscures the intended meaning. Improving the variety and precision of your linking words will help the text flow more naturally.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to express your ideas clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'historical landmarks', 'contemporary architecture', and 'national heritage'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'how people do they religious virtually' (should be 'practice their religion') and 'spacious area without an effective usage'. There are also minor errors in word form, such as 'old building should be remain'. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and ensuring you use the correct form of words in context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, they are frequently marred by grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('old building should be remain') and punctuation errors, including the misuse of commas and capitalization (e.g., 'The Frame'). Some sentences are fragmented or run-on, which impacts readability. To achieve a higher score, you need to demonstrate better control over complex structures and reduce the frequency of basic grammatical errors. Proofreading for subject-verb agreement and sentence boundaries would significantly improve the accuracy of your writing.
