Student answer (Band 6.0)
I would like to discuss the two opposing views that old buildings such as town halls and art galleries needs to be restored. On the other hand, governments should replace these buildings with new and modern buildings and give my opinion.
There are people that believe that these old buildings like art galleries and town halls needs to be restored because they look at it in the lens of education and art. They assume that these buildings are tied to historical core values. For example, it can be linked to the nation's history. These people see it as an opportunity for students to learn about some specific art tied to cultures. Given Nok art and their history tied to Benin. These are seem as a useful source for learning in schools.
Another group of people believe that these art galleries should be replaced with new buildings. Their innovation comes from the world developing day by day, the arising of new technologies as well as artificial intelligence. They see those art galleries as well as museums as things of the past and are caught up with new inventions.
My stand on these views is that while ancient times are important for educational purposes and resources, I believe that these buildings should be replaced with modern buildings. Modern buildings are necessary in today's world. They keep work at a fast pace and smooth running. A recent study showed that China are developing flying cars and such technology will be launched in the nearest future. It would be convenient for humans especially when it comes to transportation from one city to another. In this case this can help in time management and conservation.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention that old buildings are useful for education, the example regarding 'Nok art' is not fully explained in relation to the prompt. Similarly, the argument for replacing buildings with modern ones is somewhat disconnected, as the transition to discussing 'flying cars' and 'transportation' lacks a logical link to the preservation of town halls or art galleries. To improve, ensure that your supporting examples directly relate to the specific topic of architectural heritage versus modernization.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'Their innovation comes from...' or 'In this case this can help...'. The progression of ideas within paragraphs could be smoother; for instance, the jump from discussing art galleries to the development of flying cars in China is abrupt and lacks a clear transitional phrase to bridge the two concepts. Improving the variety and precision of linking words would enhance the flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and range required for a higher band. You use some repetitive phrasing, such as 'new and modern buildings' and 'old buildings'. There are also some minor collocation issues, such as 'look at it in the lens of' (better: 'view them through the lens of') and 'are seem as' (should be 'are seen as'). To achieve a higher score, try to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary related to urban planning, cultural heritage, and architectural development.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues like 'old buildings... needs to be restored' (should be 'need') and 'China are developing' (should be 'is'). Additionally, there are some awkward phrasings, such as 'the arising of new technologies' and 'are caught up with new inventions'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to limit the score. Focus on proofreading for basic agreement and tense consistency.
