Student answer (Band 5.5)
A CLUSTER OF LIKE-MINDED PEOPLE INCLUDING ME VOICE THAT OLD BUILDING SHOULD BE RESTORED WHIKE OTHERS ARE ENGAGED THAT GOVERMENT SHOULD REPLACE OLD BUILDINGS WITH MODERN BUILDINGS. THE APPROACHING PARAGRAPHS WILL HIGHLIGHT THE TWAIN SIDES ALONG WITH PERSONAL OPINION IN A MORE SPECIFIED WAY.
ACCORDING TO SOME PROPONENTS OF SOCIETY, OLD BUILDINGS MUST BE RESTRORED BECAUSE THIS IS THE ONLY WAY TO PRESERVE OUR CULTURE OR OUR COUNTRY,S MEMORABLE PLACES. IF WE RESTORE IT THEN IT WILL HELP US TO SHOW THIS TO OUR YOUNG GENERATION AND GIVE THEM KNOWLEDGE ABOUT OUR OLD BUILDING. MOST OF THE ART GALLERIES HAVE A ARTS WHICH IS MADE BY OUR OLD PEOPLE AND WE HAVE A LOT OF TEMPLES WHICH ARE NOT LOOKING GOOD AND WE HAVE TO RESTORE THEM. IT DOES NOT MATTER THAT HOW MUCH COST THIS WILL CHARGE BUT WE CAN SHOW IT TO TOO MANY GENERATIONS AND TELL THEM ALL ABOUT OUR CULTURE AND BUILDINGS.
APART FROM THIS, OTHERS AND I ALSO BELIEVE THAT GOVERNMENTS SHOULD REPLACE THE OLD BUILDINGS BECAUSE IF WE MAKE A NEW BUILDING AND GALLERIES THEN IT WILL HELP US TO KNOW ABOUT THE NEW CULTURE AND WE MET WITH NEW ARTS . ONE OF THE BEST THING IS THAT WE DONT HAVE TO RESTORED IT EVERY YEAR AS OLD BULOLDING WANT TO RESTORED AFTER 2-3 YEARS. NEW BULIDINGS ARE BECOME A ATTRACTIVR PLACES AND PEOPLE CAN COME TO SEE IT FROM DIFFERENT COUNTRIES. AS COMPARE TO OTHER COUNTRIES WE HAVE A LOT OD OLD BUILDINGS AND AS THE YEAR PASSED WE ALSO HAVE TO VHANGE THE MAP OF IUR NATION BY BUILDING A NEW GALLERIES AND HISTORICAL BUILDINGS WITH MODERN DESIGN IT ALSO ATTRACT TOURITS. GOVENRMENT CAN EASILY GET THEIR FUNDS BY TOURITS WHO COME TO SEE THE BUILDINGS AND BUY ANY KIND OF ART.
IN PITHY, ALTHOUGH OLD BUILDINGS SHOULD BE RESTRORED BUT ACCORDING TO SOME PEOPLE AND I PERSONALLY BELIEVE THAT WE HAVE TO MAKE A NEW BUILDING AND PRESERVE IT FOR LONG TIME AND GIVE KNOWLEDGE ABOUT THIS TO YOUNGSTERS.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a personal opinion, meeting the basic requirements of the prompt. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For example, the argument for modern buildings relies on repetitive claims about tourism and maintenance without exploring the deeper socio-economic or architectural implications. The conclusion is slightly contradictory, as it acknowledges the need for restoration but then pivots to prioritizing new construction, which makes the overall position feel inconsistent. To improve, you should aim to provide more nuanced examples and ensure your stance remains clear and logically supported throughout the entire essay.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'In pithy' are used incorrectly to introduce the conclusion, and the transition between ideas within paragraphs is sometimes abrupt. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the use of 'it' without a clear antecedent. While there is a logical progression from the introduction to the body paragraphs, the lack of sophisticated linking words and the repetitive sentence structure hinder the flow of the argument. Improving the variety of transition signals would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive, relying on basic terms like 'buildings', 'new', and 'old'. There are several instances of awkward word choices and incorrect collocations, such as 'voice that old building should be restored' and 'we met with new arts'. Spelling errors are frequent (e.g., 'WHIKE', 'TWAIN', 'RESTRORED', 'BULOLDING', 'ATTRACTIVR', 'TOURITS'), which occasionally distracts the reader. To reach a higher band, you need to demonstrate a wider range of vocabulary, including less common lexical items, and pay closer attention to accurate spelling and word formation.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures. While there are attempts at complex sentences, they are frequently marred by grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('old building should be restored', 'new buildings are become a attractivr places') and incorrect verb tenses ('we dont have to restored it'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with irregular spacing and capitalization issues throughout the text. The frequency of these errors means that while the meaning is generally understandable, the control over grammar is not consistent enough to reach a higher band. Focusing on sentence variety and proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy is essential.
