Student answer (Band 5.5)
Town halls and art galleries are considered as treasure of knowledge .Therefore, some people assert that these should be maintained regardless of the how much funds needed to restore these buildings, others contend that government should abolished these old building and construct some new modern buildings. As per my perspective, Government should restore these old building at any cost because it provides knowledge to people about history, culture, and roots of their religion.
People who believe that these old town halls and art galleries should be restored because it provides a platform to people to come together and discuss on legal matters and appreciate and enjoy the art work done by others. The art work might motivate or change the perspective of a person by conveying a though provoking message through their art work.
On the other hand who argue that these old building should be diminished and instead of paying high cost to maintain these old buildings, government should construct totally new modern buildings, which might be less costly In addition, government would construct new buildings as per new designs and new technology which will serve better to the community.
As per my perspective, undoubtedly government should maintain these old buildings because it provides knowledge to the people about history and culture. After have a look at these buildings, people can make a judgement, what was the style of buildings in the past and people can find a bunch of old record in art galleries

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. The essay falls short of the 250-word minimum requirement, which negatively impacts the depth of the argument. While the main points are relevant, the supporting details are thin; for instance, the argument about 'old records' in the conclusion is introduced too late and lacks sufficient explanation. To improve, you should expand on your examples and ensure each paragraph provides a more thorough justification for the points raised, ensuring the total word count meets the minimum requirement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive (e.g., 'As per my perspective' is used twice). There are also issues with referencing; for example, the phrase 'On the other hand who argue' lacks a clear subject, making the transition between paragraphs feel slightly disjointed. To improve, try using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each sentence flows naturally into the next by improving the clarity of your pronoun references and logical connectors.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward word choices, such as 'abolished these old building' (should be 'demolished') and 'diminished' (which does not fit the context of building removal). Additionally, there are minor errors in collocation, such as 'treasure of knowledge' (should be 'a treasure trove of knowledge'). To improve, focus on learning collocations and using more sophisticated vocabulary to express your ideas, rather than relying on basic or incorrectly used terms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'these old building'), article usage (e.g., 'the how much funds'), and incorrect verb forms (e.g., 'After have a look'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma placement. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, specifically pluralization and verb tense consistency.
