Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 189 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas, as the arguments remain superficial and lack sufficient supporting examples. While both views are mentioned, the discussion is underdeveloped, and your own opinion is not clearly stated or integrated into the conclusion. To improve, you must expand on your points with specific examples and ensure that your personal stance is explicitly articulated and maintained throughout the essay. The brevity of the response prevents a full exploration of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the progression of ideas is often disjointed due to limited use of cohesive devices. Transitions such as 'On the first hand' and 'On the other hand' are used, but the internal flow within paragraphs is weak. Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the phrase 'people also scared about building when earthquake come that buildings are destroy'. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each sentence logically follows the previous one to create a smoother narrative flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite basic and repetitive, which limits the ability to convey complex ideas. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'historical things' instead of 'historical landmarks' or 'heritage sites'. Phrases like 'people also scared about building' are imprecise. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise academic vocabulary and collocations. Focus on learning synonyms for common words and practicing how to use them in context to avoid repetitive phrasing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'few people thinks'), verb tense usage (e.g., 'government should replaced'), and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or lack necessary articles and prepositions. The range of structures is limited, relying mostly on simple sentences. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically ensuring correct verb forms and consistent tense usage. Proofreading for common errors like missing articles and incorrect pluralization will also help improve your accuracy.
