Student answer (Band 6.0)

People have different viewpoints about that goverment should convert the old public building according to the moderns era. Some individuals believe that restoration is beneficial for preserving our old culture. While others argues that these places should be converted according to new architecture and designs. I personally favor the formal perspective. However, my essay shall dwell upon both viewpoints in the subsequent paragraphs.

First of all, restoring old buildings and cities protect our culture and identity. To explain, traditional town and art galleries often reflects the architecture and styles of older generations which also helps to youth to stay connect with their roots and they can also get knowledge of their anchestors from these places. Furthermore, it also attracts the lots of folks to visit these places which helps and support local business situated there. For example, The headlines of the newspaper of last month states that around 80 percent of individuals visited to art galleries to stay connect with their culture. Thus it boosts the economy because people spend lot of money on shops and cafes around that.

On the other hand, few people argues that the older cities and places should be replaced by the new designs according to the modern society because they states that new buildings provide numerous facilities to the society such as huge parking spaces as well as various amenities for disabled people like wheelchairs so they can also enjoy with family members. Moreover, if these spaces will be renovated it also increase the employment opportunities for people who are unemployed. For instance, they can get security jobs as well as they opens small business like ice crem parlor or snack on that places. As a result of this they will not feel the consequences of unemployment.

In conclusion, although modern structures can benefits the society in different ways, I believe that restoration of these places helps the younger and older generation to stay connected with their roots because they can get precious knowledge about their culture.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both viewpoints and provides a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as cultural preservation versus modern accessibility. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding employment opportunities in the second body paragraph is a bit tenuous and lacks depth. While the position is consistent throughout, the supporting examples, such as the reference to a 'newspaper headline,' are generic and lack specific detail. To reach a higher band, you should aim to provide more nuanced arguments and more concrete, well-developed examples that directly support your claims.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, and there is a logical progression of ideas. You use cohesive devices such as 'First of all,' 'Furthermore,' and 'On the other hand' to link your points. However, some of the transitions feel a bit mechanical, and there are instances where the flow is slightly disrupted by grammatical errors. For example, the use of 'the formal perspective' is confusing as you likely meant 'former.' Additionally, some referencing is slightly unclear, which occasionally forces the reader to re-read sentences to grasp the intended meaning.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'restoration,' 'amenities,' and 'unemployment.' However, there are several instances of incorrect word choice and spelling errors, such as 'goverment' (government), 'anchestors' (ancestors), 'ice crem' (ice cream), and 'formal' instead of 'former.' These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your writing. To improve, focus on mastering the spelling of common academic terms and ensuring that your word choices are contextually accurate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, they are frequently marred by grammatical errors, such as 'that goverment should convert' (missing article), 'others argues' (subject-verb agreement), and 'helps to youth to stay connect' (incorrect verb form). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are issues with article usage and verb tense consistency throughout the text. The frequency of these errors is noticeable, though they rarely prevent the reader from understanding your main points.
