Student answer (Band 6.0)

There is ongoing debate regarding that old buildings should be preserved or replaced with new other. There are dual opinions. Many individuals think that old buildings like town hall and art galleries should be restored even though this can be expensive. While some others say that government should replace them with new modern buldings. Prior to my opinion both the point of views will be discussed in the ensuing paragraphs with valid reasons and appropriate examples.

On one hand people believe that vintage buildings such as town halls and art galleries should be pereserved even it is costly because it represenets country's culture, art and legacy. Its authentic vibes are not replacted by any other architeture. Moreover, it provides valuable information about our cultural heritage and sculptures to country's children and up coming generation. Furthermore, it can attractes the international tourists as result countrys earn more foreign exchange which can leads to growth and development. For instanse India earns approximattely $31 billion to $ as billion USD annually from internation tourism. Which is fare more than maintinence of such historical monuments.

On the other hand people argue that government should replace old buiddings with modern buildings. Due to continiousty increase in population, there are more requirements of residential and commercial buildings additionally, there is not plenty of space to construct other new that is why replacemenet of old building is necessary. Moreover, government can use that space to build science centers, schools, collages hospitals etc. Which can contributes to citizen's growth and well being. It also promets architecture and modernisation of country.

To conclude, although the replacement of old buildings with alternative architecture can help to solve the problem of shortage of residence and enhance the country's architecture, It also promotes our culture haritage to the world also attract international tourists. I firmly believe that such monuments should be protected and preserved because its authenticity is not riplcated by any other architecture models.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion in the conclusion. The ideas are relevant, such as the cultural value of old buildings versus the practical need for modern infrastructure. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the example regarding India's tourism revenue is a good attempt at support, but the explanation of how this specifically relates to the maintenance of historical monuments could be more clearly articulated. The position is consistent, but the overall depth of analysis is more characteristic of a Band 6, as some points remain slightly superficial.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'On one hand', 'Moreover', and 'To conclude', which help guide the reader. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly repetitive. Additionally, there are instances where the flow is interrupted by awkward phrasing, such as 'new other' in the introduction or the fragmented sentence structure in the second paragraph. While the progression of ideas is generally clear, the lack of sophisticated linking between sentences prevents a higher score.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but shows limited range and frequent errors. There are several spelling mistakes, such as 'pereserved', 'repre senets', 'architeture', 'attractes', 'instanse', 'approximattely', 'maintinence', 'buiddings', 'continiousty', 'collages', 'promets', and 'riplcated'. These errors are frequent and occasionally distracting. While the student attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'cultural heritage', 'foreign exchange', and 'modernisation', the consistent spelling issues and occasional word-choice errors (e.g., 'new other') indicate a limited control over lexical features.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('it can attractes', 'which can leads'), missing articles, and awkward sentence construction ('Prior to my opinion both the point of views will be discussed'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of full stops where commas or conjunctions would be more appropriate. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar and sentence structure limits the score.
