Student answer (Band 6.0)
There is an ongoing debate about whether governments should reconstruct old infrastructures such as buildings, halls and art galleries or demolish them and build modern buildings. some people think that it is better to keep historical building while other argue that it should be replaced with modern architectures. I am more inclined towards formal view.
To begin with, there are several reasons for investing in old buildings. Firstly, By modifying old buildings it will help to recover the part of history and youth people can get immerse knowledge about historical information about the place. Because, in this fast-paced life people are less time to learn about past monuments which may leads to completely vanish the importance of this buildings.
Furthermore, There may be crucial engineering concepts for creating historical buildings which is widely used by many engineers to build modern infrastructures. If old building will collapse than it will also erase some important information and design marvels which might helpful for researchers and manufacturers. Consequently, It may become hard for future modern infrastructure to build and sustain. For example, A bridge which was constructed a century ago might need some repairment which holds some insight knowledge about building new modern bridges
However, It is also important to allocate sufficient money for modern building infrastructures. This is because, modern lifestyle and technology demands for modern facilities which may unavailable in old buildings. Nevertheless, government should never totally replaced old infrastructure as it holds vital value which is irreplaceable.
To conclude, Both the old and new constructions needs some maintenance and crucial for society, governments should allocates money for both the projects. Although, keeping old building alive holds immerse value.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While the argument for preserving old buildings is supported with points about history and engineering, the counter-argument regarding modern facilities is less developed. The introduction is slightly vague, as the phrase 'inclined towards formal view' is unclear and does not explicitly state which side you support. To improve, ensure that your position is clearly articulated in the introduction and consistently maintained throughout the essay. Some points, such as the claim that old buildings help manufacturers, are slightly tangential and could be better explained to ensure full relevance to the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Furthermore', and 'However' are used to guide the reader. However, there are instances where the flow is slightly mechanical or awkward, such as the transition between the second and third paragraphs. Additionally, some referencing is unclear; for example, the use of 'it' in 'if old building will collapse than it will also erase' is grammatically imprecise. Paragraphing is generally appropriate, but the concluding paragraph is quite brief and could better summarize the main points to provide a more cohesive finish to the argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and sophistication required for higher bands. There are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'youth people' instead of 'young people', 'immerse knowledge' instead of 'immense knowledge', and 'repairment' which is not standard English (the correct term is 'repairs'). While you attempt to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'infrastructures' and 'modern architectures', the misuse of these terms occasionally hinders the clarity of your message. Expanding your vocabulary to include more precise academic collocations would significantly improve your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that affect the overall quality. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('Both the old and new constructions needs'), incorrect verb tenses ('If old building will collapse'), and article usage ('the importance of this buildings'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the unnecessary capitalization of words like 'By' and 'A' in the middle of sentences. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement would be highly beneficial.
