Student answer (Band 6.0)
Now days it is the subject of debate should we keep old buildings , such as town halls , heritage places & art galleries and opposite few individual argue that government should replace them with new buildings. Will elaborate both opinions in upcoming paragraphs.
To begin with, in recent times large numbers of people believe that old buildings, art galleries and old town hall to be restored so new generation should connected with culture and their religion. For instance now days current generation forget their ideology. If government restore their country old buildings and art galleries youth generation much aware on their country history & learn about old civilisation. Second most people will get employment through this step. Local authorities should earn money and improve the budgeting. Moreover tourist will attract more for this kind placed to visit and explore the culture of particular city.
On the other hand some people argue that govt should replace this old building & replace with new modern buildings in some ways it is good point of view because as per them old build just block the property and there is no advantage to keep old building in modern city. This old city have no benefits to anyone and govt should remove them and make shopping malls for country. Govt should build hospital or school on old buildings place. For example if govt build govt schools/colleges on that places poor children’s & youth get free education and they put big role in coming years to improve the country. Moreover this old buildings not generating any revenue for country shipuld be replace with modern city.
In conclusion, after discussing both views and as per my knowledges and experience old buildings and art galleries have their oven importance because it was rich history for any country or culture if govt have good budget should keep this heritage if and old building have no history or culture no need to keep instead govt should replace with modern building for official use.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion in the conclusion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding 'religion' in the first body paragraph is not clearly linked to the restoration of buildings, and the points about employment and tourism are mentioned but not fully extended. While the task is addressed, the supporting arguments lack depth and specific, well-explained examples. The position is consistent, but the overall development is slightly superficial, which aligns with the descriptors for a band 6.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas from the introduction to the conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To begin with', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion', though some transitions are mechanical or slightly repetitive. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'on that places', which makes the flow of information slightly disjointed. Paragraphing is used appropriately, but the internal structure of the paragraphs could be improved to better connect the supporting sentences to the main topic sentences.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. However, there is a lack of variety and precision. The student relies on basic terms like 'good', 'old', and 'new', and there are several instances of awkward word choices or incorrect collocations, such as 'country shipuld be replace' and 'oven importance' (likely a typo for 'own'). While the meaning is generally conveyed, the range is limited, and the errors in word formation and spelling are noticeable, though they do not significantly impede communication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but the control over these structures is inconsistent. There are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('tourist will attract'), article usage ('the country history'), and pluralisation ('poor children’s'). Punctuation is also problematic, with missing commas and incorrect spacing around punctuation marks. While the writer attempts complex sentences, these are often where the errors are most frequent. The errors are noticeable and occasionally require the reader to re-read to understand the intended meaning.
