Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is believed by some that historical buildings should be renovated inspite of the fact that it would be expensive but other individuals agree that authority should substitute these buildings with modern buildings. In my perspective, ancient infrastructure should be retained because it will reflect the historical values for the younger generation. This essay will intend to discuss both the views.
On the one hand, older buildings should not be replaced with newer ones because these buildings can reflect historical culture. To explain, younger generation nowadays, are not keenly interested in their nation history. To remain them stick with their culture and historical norms, it is essential for an economy to maintain the older buildings. For example, Golden Temple is a well known place in Punjab. It is well maintained because it is a religious place for wisdom for sikhs. Most of the population who visits there got curious to know the history related to the golden temple. Hence, it is essential to restore these type of buildings.
On the other hand, government need to switch old towns with modern buildings because of the convenience. To explicate, old buildings are designed according to the old interior. For instance, there was not any elevators in the old buildings, moreover these building are not as much high. So the buildings consumed more space. Therefore, new buildings give convenience for new facilities.
To conclude, although new buildings facilitated people in many ways, yet I believe that old structures stick youth with their culture.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion in the introduction and conclusion. The ideas are relevant, such as the cultural value of historical sites versus the functional convenience of modern architecture. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding modern buildings focuses primarily on the lack of elevators and space, which is a valid point but could be expanded with more sophisticated reasoning. The example of the Golden Temple is relevant, but the explanation of how it fosters wisdom could be more detailed to fully support the argument. Overall, the task is addressed, but the depth of analysis is consistent with a mid-range band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized into four paragraphs: an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'To conclude', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'To remain them stick with their culture'. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, and the flow between sentences within paragraphs could be smoother. While the overall arrangement is coherent, the use of cohesive devices is not always flexible or natural, which prevents the essay from reaching a higher band in this criterion.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'renovated', 'infrastructure', and 'substitute'. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and awkward collocations, such as 'remain them stick with their culture' and 'not as much high'. The range of vocabulary is somewhat limited, and there is a reliance on simpler terms. To improve, the student should focus on using more precise academic collocations and ensuring that word forms are used correctly in context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'It is believed by some that historical buildings should be renovated inspite of the fact that it would be expensive but other individuals agree...', which is a run-on sentence. Other errors include 'there was not any elevators' (subject-verb agreement) and 'these type of buildings' (pluralization). Punctuation is generally functional, but the frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the essay from achieving a higher score. The student needs to focus on subject-verb agreement and sentence boundary control.
