Student answer (Band 5.5)

Half of the population thinks that historical infrastructure, such as town halls and art galleries, must be reorganised, while the other half thinks that politicians must focus on futuristic infrastructure.

In the upcoming paragraphs I will discuss about both notions briefly.

Firstly, the old buildings carry people ancestor belongings by that they can learn about the particular history as well as can be passed to the upcoming generation Secondly, work as tourist sites For Instence, Taj Mahal in India is one of the greatest attreaction for visitors , due to that reason it have increased the gross domestic proportion of the city and also beneficial for local vendors.

Furthermore, fifty per cent of the population thinks government bodies should replace the old buildings since there is no use for them and focus on the future For example, recently a historical Muslim temple was destroyed by the local authorities, and new Hindu temple has been constructed. other reason is history related museum need time and must be take cared cause it is tender and also need a large amount of money to invest; however, the biggest source is the public money and that is why they think it should be invested on upcoming future ideas.

To conclude, in my opinion, old museums or some other buildings would be enough to take care apart from that, no old halls must be taken care of, hence new galleries which is crucial for growths must be introduced to the society or to the world.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both views and provides a personal opinion, though the development is uneven. The first body paragraph provides relevant points regarding cultural heritage and tourism. However, the second paragraph is less clear; the example of replacing a temple is not directly relevant to the prompt's focus on 'town halls and art galleries' and the argument regarding public money is somewhat underdeveloped. The conclusion is slightly confusing, as it suggests keeping some museums but then states 'no old halls must be taken care of,' which contradicts the earlier discussion. To improve, ensure that your position is consistent and that your examples directly support the specific topic provided.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical flow is frequently interrupted by awkward phrasing and missing transitions. While some cohesive devices are used (e.g., 'Firstly', 'Furthermore', 'To conclude'), they are often followed by sentences that lack clear internal connection. For instance, the transition 'due to that reason' is used incorrectly to link the Taj Mahal example to the economic benefits. Additionally, the referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the progression of ideas. More varied and accurate cohesive devices are needed to move into a higher band.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally limited and repetitive. There are several instances of imprecise word choice, such as 'reorganised' instead of 'restored' or 'renovated', and 'ancestor belongings' instead of 'ancestral heritage'. Some phrases are non-idiomatic, such as 'gross domestic proportion' (likely meaning GDP) and 'upcoming future ideas'. While the meaning is generally conveyed, the lack of precision and the reliance on basic vocabulary prevent the essay from reaching a higher score. Expanding your range to include topic-specific collocations would be beneficial.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a high frequency of grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. There are frequent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'it have increased', 'museum need time'), missing articles, and incorrect verb forms (e.g., 'must be take cared'). Sentence structures are mostly simple or contain errors when attempting complexity. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with run-on sentences and missing commas. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like verb tense consistency and pluralisation before attempting more complex structures.
