Student answer (Band 6.0)

In recent decades, people in the worldwide has argued about transforming the old buildings into new ones. On that note, some individuals want to maintain their historical buildings, like town halls and art galleries, which are becoming more expensive. However, people on the other side argue that governments should invest in new infrastructure, and I believe that is true.

To begin with, one side of the view is that the government have to maintain the historical buildings to preserve our history and culture of the country. For instance, working on the preservation of our country's history is also about passing our culture to the next generation. Moreover, this history building have precious artwork that which inspired so my artists to move forward in this field in future. Additionally, it has also increased tourism in the country, with that economic is also increased.

On the other hand, arguments about new infrastructure, which I also appreciate because moving forward with new modern technology and new artwork is also vital for developing countries. There are a few buildings which are old and also dangerous for people living nearby. Owing to this, old buildings are feared to fall down at any time, which is a risk for people. Furthermore, modern infrastructure creates more job opportunities for individuals.

To conclude, historical buildings are essential for that government has to invest in this but not in rural buildings, which is dangerous for people it need to be updated over time for public safety and for modern development

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention the importance of history and tourism, the arguments remain quite general. For instance, the point about 'precious artwork' is vague and lacks a concrete example. The conclusion is a bit rushed and slightly confusing in its phrasing ('not in rural buildings'), which obscures your final stance. To reach a higher band, ensure that each paragraph contains a fully developed supporting example or explanation that directly links back to the prompt's core tension between cost and preservation.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'To begin with,' 'Moreover,' and 'On the other hand' to signal shifts in the argument. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where the flow is interrupted by awkward phrasing, such as 'with that economic is also increased.' Referencing is occasionally unclear, particularly in the conclusion where the link between the arguments and the final summary is weak. Improving the variety and precision of your linking words will help the essay flow more naturally.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and range required for a higher band. You rely on basic terms like 'new' and 'old' repeatedly. There are also some noticeable errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'people in the worldwide' (should be 'people worldwide') and 'history building' (should be 'historical building'). While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of sophisticated or less common vocabulary limits the score. Try to incorporate more topic-specific collocations related to urban planning, heritage conservation, and economic development to demonstrate a wider range.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the reader's understanding. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues like 'the government have to' (should be 'has to') and 'economic is also increased' (should be 'the economy is also boosted'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, and there are awkward phrasings like 'that which inspired so my artists.' While you attempt complex sentences, the control over them is inconsistent. Focusing on basic subject-verb agreement and article usage will significantly improve the clarity and accuracy of your writing.
