Student answer (Band 6.0)

Although, A substantial number of people argue that Town halls and art galleries should be fixed, regardless of its cost, others think that government should must turn it into new infrastructures. In my opinion, old heritages should be preserved and well maintained for the present and the future youth.

To begin with, most of the people believe in preserving the old commercial places rather than, just demolishing it due to the fact that present and future generation can accuaire knowledge about traditional cultures and their art forms. It is not only beneficial for the residents but also holds a significant advantage of tourism for the country. For example, in USA there is a celebrated infrastructure known as White house. It has need fixed and maintain for years for the people to remember it in their history and also many tourists visit this place in order to obtain some memorable experience.

On the other hand people think that old buildings should be demolished and new modern buildings should be constructed in order to utilize the space with trending productivity which can help the country grow better and bring a positive development to the communities. Other compelling reason is that new graduates in architecher background can have lucrative opportunities to avail and construct trending modern buildings and provide modern displaying of arts.

In conclusion, I think that fixing old heritage should be consider significantly as it will play a vital role in the lives of the young children, eventually it be preserved in everyone's memory. However, other people think that all old town halls and art galleries should be vandale and construct new infrastructures to develop their nation.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding modern architecture is underdeveloped, and the example of the White House is slightly inaccurate in its application to the prompt's focus on town halls and art galleries. While the position is clear throughout, the supporting arguments could be more thoroughly extended to reach a higher band. The response stays on topic, but the depth of analysis is consistent with a mid-range performance.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To begin with', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical, and there are instances where referencing is unclear, such as the use of 'it' when referring to plural nouns like 'town halls and art galleries'. Paragraphing is used appropriately, but the flow between sentences could be improved to create a more natural progression of ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, though it lacks precision and variety. There are several word-choice errors, such as 'accuaire' (acquire), 'architecher' (architectural), and 'vandale' (vandalized/demolished). While the student attempts to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'infrastructure' and 'heritage', the misuse of terms and spelling errors occasionally impede the flow. A wider range of collocations and more accurate word forms would be necessary to achieve a higher score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('It has need fixed'), incorrect verb forms ('should be consider'), and awkward phrasing ('government should must turn'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage at the beginning of sentences. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of errors in basic grammar and sentence construction prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. More attention to proofreading and sentence structure is required.
