Student answer (Band 6.0)

Throughout the global, previous buildings help people to stay attached with their country traditions and history. Some people think that higher authority should spend money to protect museums and art galleries because it helps to boost economic development. Nevertheless, other group of masses believe in that government should build new buildings such as, cinema and swimming pools at the same location. I agree with former statement and I will discuss my points in upcoming paragraphs.

On the one hand, old museums play a crucial role in every nation because with the help of old buildings new generations can easily know about history about their nation. To explain it, previous buildings help countries to increase their economic power because nowadays, many tourists came other nations to see old buildings and history behind the buildings. Thus, when they came they spent money for tickets and also make plan stay for six to nine days. Moreover, at that time unemployment individuals can get a job. For example, in India Taj Mehal is a source of income because large numbers of people came there to see the building which increase the economy power of that nation.

On the other hand, in this modern area, youngsters like to travel to new places where they can do enjoy with their families and friends. To elaborate, government should make new buildings at the same place like as swimming pools, restaurants and schools. If government open free schools for poor families then their children can do studies due to this, they become successful persons in their life. Moving further, young generation do not like visit to old buildings because they feel easily bored there. So that, government should open some free schools and sports games centre where children can relax their mind.

To sum up, although youngsters are not interested in history and old museums buildings but that art galleries help to nations increase their economic power and also helps to unemployed people to get a job.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the economic benefits of tourism for old buildings and the social utility of new facilities. However, the development is somewhat uneven. The argument for new buildings is less convincing, relying on generalisations about what 'youngsters' like, and the link between building new facilities and solving poverty is not fully explored. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is supported with more nuanced reasoning rather than broad assertions.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, each with a central topic. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'To sum up', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'Moving further' and 'To explain it'. Additionally, referencing is occasionally unclear, particularly in the introduction where 'former statement' is used to refer to the first view, but the phrasing is slightly unnatural. The logical progression is generally sound, but the flow between sentences could be smoother.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey their meaning clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'crucial role' and 'economic power'. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and awkward collocations, such as 'higher authority' instead of 'the government', 'unemployment individuals' instead of 'unemployed individuals', and 'modern area' instead of 'modern era'. These errors do not impede communication but indicate a limited range of precise lexical items.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is usually clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the Taj Mahal'), pluralisation ('many tourists came other nations'), and verb forms ('youngsters like to travel... where they can do enjoy'). Some sentences are slightly disjointed due to these errors. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles, as these errors occur consistently throughout the text.
