Student answer (Band 4.5)

FEW INDIVIDUALS ARGUE THAT TRADITIONAL BUILDINGS LIKE ART GALLERIES, TOWN HALLS SHOULD BE RESTORED IN SPIT OF COSTELY. OTHERS THINK CONSIDER THAT GOVERNMENTS SHOULD REPLACE THEM WITH MODERN BUILDINGS. I AGREE WITH BOTH VIEW POINT BEACUSE ITS TOTALY DEPEND ON NEEDS.

FIRST OF ALL, I AGREE WITH THAT AUTHORITY SHOULD RESTORE OLD MEMORABLE THINGS WHICH HAS GOTTEN BY HARIDETY. IN OLD ERA PEOPLE MAKE SOME EXTRA ORDINARY THINGS WHO IS NOT POSSIBLE TO MAKE IN THESE DAYS.

SECONDALY, SOME PEOPLE SUPPOSE THAT GOVERNMENT SHOULD REPLACE THEM WITH MODERN AND NEW TECHNOLOGY, I SUPPOSE IT COULD BE A BETTER PLAN TO DEVELOPE OUR COUNTRY. ALL COUNTRY LEADER ALWAYS TRY TO IMPROVE OUR COUNTRY EXATELY SAME AS JAPAN. IF THEY WOULD CREATE A HUGE MENSION FOR LIVING POOR PEOPLE, IT WILL WELL-BEING FOR SOME PEOPLE. ON SOME PLACES HAVE HORROR VILLA WHICH THAT GOVERNMENT SHOULD MODIFY IN FASCINATING VILLA OR SHOULD BE MAKE THEIR SOCIALBATHROOM WHICH IS CONVENIENT FOR PEOPLE AND ALSO FOR ENVIRONMENT.

FROM MY PERSPECTIVE, SOME OLD MEMORABLE THINGS SHOULD NOT BE MODIFY, BECAUSE IT COULD NEVER BUILD AGAIN LIKEWISE BEFORE MADE. THERFORE GOVERNMENT SHOULD FINE NEW PLACE TO BUILD LARGE BUILDINGS AND OTHER COMPANIES. ON THE OTHER HAND GOVERNMENT WOULD BE CHANGE IN OTHER EMPTY PLACES LIKE IN FOREST AND COUNTRYSIDE AREA WHERE HAVE NOT FAMOUS THINGS.

IN CONCLUSION ALL PEOPLE SHOLD HAVE TO SAVE OR HERIDITY THINGS WHO GIVEN BY OUR PARENTS. BECAUSE NEVER WILL RETURN OUR PARENTS ONLY MEMORY STAYED HERE OF THEM.

AS FAR AS CONCERNED THAT PEOPLE ALWAYS TRY TO IMPROVE OUR SKILLS ALWAYS PEOPLE SHOULD SAFE OF OLD THINGS LIKE ART GALLERIES AND MUSEOM.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to address both views and provide a personal opinion, which satisfies the basic demands of the prompt. However, the development of ideas is limited and at times confusing. For instance, the writer states 'I agree with both view point because its totaly depend on needs' and then introduces various tangential ideas, such as comparing government development to Japan or converting 'horror villa' into 'socialbathroom'. While the core idea that historic buildings should be preserved while new ones are built elsewhere is discernible, the arguments are heavily under-developed and lack clear, logical support. The conclusion introduces new, slightly disjointed ideas about parents and memories. Consequently, this falls under Band 5, as the position is sometimes unclear and ideas are limited and under-developed.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into paragraphs, which provides a basic visual structure, but the internal organisation and progression of ideas are weak. Cohesive devices are either missing, repetitive, or used inaccurately, as seen in transitions like 'FIRST OF ALL', 'SECONDALY', and 'FROM MY PERSPECTIVE'. Referencing is also frequently unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the train of thought, particularly in the body paragraphs where sentences jump abruptly from topic to topic (e.g., from modern technology and Japan to poor housing and social bathrooms). Paragraphing is attempted, but logical progression throughout the text is lacking. This corresponds to Band 4.5, rounded to 5.0 for overall arrangement.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, with frequent spelling and word-choice errors that occasionally impede communication. Examples of non-standard usage include 'costely' instead of costly, 'haridety' instead of heritage, 'extra ordinary', 'mension', and 'socialbathroom'. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary items, such as 'fascinating' and 'alternative', but these are overshadowed by pervasive errors in spelling and collocation. The range is limited and minimally adequate for conveying very basic points, matching the Band 4 descriptor.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The grammatical range is extremely limited, relying heavily on simple sentence structures and repetitive patterns (e.g., 'government should...'). Attempts at complex sentences are almost universally faulty, containing severe errors in agreement, tense, and article usage, such as 'old memorable things which has gotten by haridety' and 'in old era people make some extra ordinary things who is not possible'. Punctuation and capitalization are also problematic, with the text written entirely in uppercase letters and basic punctuation missing or misused. Errors are frequent and regularly strain the reader's understanding, aligning with Band 4.
