Student answer (Band 6.0)

People have different views whether traditional building and art galleries ought to be preserved while it can be expensive or not. Although this phenomenon has some positive aspects, i believe that regimes must focus on making new houses and building.

On the one hand, there are certain reasons why ancestors buildings should be restored. First and the foremost, when people preserve the old sites, it helps people to alive the culture. To explain, children can get an opportunities to learn about their either elders or history while visiting this place in turn of which they can not forget their roots. Apart from it, if old building restored, it can birth to tourism because most of the people want to visit there to explore new cultures as a result it can boost the government economy as well as generate employement so people can easily cater their fundamental needs. Therefore, it does not matter if restoration is costly.

On the other hand, i opine that government should make new buildings. First of all, population is increase day by day that is why high authorities need to make new houses and apartment which is very necessary for their survival because when government make new houses, it takes few spaces and make house with the modern equipments. Along with this, old building should be replaced with new one because nowadays every one want to live with advance infrastructure so they can live quailty of life.

To conclude, while ancestors building should be restored to alive culture and history, i believe that high authoritirs should more focus on constructing modern sites.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both views on whether old buildings should be restored or replaced and clearly stating the writer's own opinion in the introduction and conclusion. Ideas are presented and supported, such as mentioning tourism, employment, and population growth. However, some arguments remain somewhat under-developed and general, preventing the task response from reaching a higher band. For example, the point about modern equipment and quality of life is stated briefly without concrete expansion. The writer maintains a clear position throughout the essay, fulfilling the core requirements of Band 6.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is generally coherent with a recognizable overall arrangement, featuring a clear introduction, body paragraphs for each view, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate different perspectives. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or faulty, as seen with transitional phrases like 'First and the foremost' and 'Apart from it'. Referencing can also be unclear in places, such as pronoun use referring back to plural nouns. There is a logical flow overall, but the mechanical nature of the transitions places this text firmly at Band 6.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common lexical items such as 'restored', 'fundamental needs', and 'infrastructure'. However, there are noticeable word choice and collocation errors throughout the text, including 'regimes' instead of governments, 'ancestors buildings' instead of ancestral buildings, 'alive the culture' instead of keep culture alive, and 'employement' with a spelling error. Despite these inaccuracies, communication is not impeded, fitting the Band 6 descriptor well.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing relative clauses and conditional structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors in tense consistency, article usage, and subject-verb agreement. Examples include 'population is increase day by day', 'when government make new houses, it takes few spaces', and missing capitalization for the first-person pronoun 'i'. While these errors occasionally cause the reader to pause, they rarely impede overall communication, making Band 5.0 or 6.0 appropriate. The presence of some accurate complex structures supports a score of 5.5.
