Student answer (Band 6.0)
Although restoration of town halls and art galleries is expensive, many people believe that they should be restored. However, others think that old buildings should be replaced with modern-style buildings. Indeed, both views have vaild arguments, I largely believe that old structures should be restored and use as tourist attraction to generate revenue. To begin with, Many people visit art galleries and town halls to enchance their knowledge about history.By restoring art galleries, the government can preserve history and generate income. No doubt, restoration process requires huge funding, but later they attract tourists and can enhance economic growth of the country. The more governments preserve historical bulidings, the more they can generate incomes resources. Last year, Turkey restored several old town halls to attract more visitors. On the other hand, old buildings often occupy more space and offer less practical usage. By replacing them with new modern bulidings, governments can utilize that space effectively, such as hospitals and offices. Moreover, old structures are not secure to visit, to proctect public from any accident, replacing them with new-style buildings is beneficial. For instance, Japan replaced its all town halls with new townhouse buliding to provide more residential space for its citizens. That is why some believe that replacement of old buildings is a better approach. In conclusion, although replacing old bulidings with new bulidings may have benefits, I strongly beleive that restoration of ancient bulidings is more benefical. By restoring them, we cannot only preserve our history, but can also genearte revenue through tourists.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both the view that old buildings should be restored and the alternative view that they should be replaced with modern structures, while also clearly stating the writer's own opinion. The position is maintained throughout the essay. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and leans on general assertions rather than deep elaboration. For instance, the example about Turkey restoring town halls is very brief and lacks specific details to fully support the argument. Similarly, the claim that Japan replaced its all town halls with new townhouse building is factually questionable and under-developed. Ideas are relevant and meet the core requirements, but they would benefit from more thorough extension. Overall, the task is addressed adequately, placing it at a solid band 6.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with clear paragraphing separating the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. Basic cohesive devices are employed, such as 'To begin with', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion', which help structure the essay. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical or faulty, as seen in the sentence 'Indeed, both views have vaild arguments, I largely believe...', which is a run-on sentence. Referencing and logical progression are generally adequate, but transitions between sentences can feel abrupt. Paragraphing is used sufficiently to divide the distinct arguments, but internal cohesion requires smoother links to reach a higher band.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'generate revenue', 'preserve history', and 'tourist attraction'. However, there are numerous spelling errors throughout the text, including 'vaild' (valid), 'enhance' (enhance - spelled 'enchance'), 'bulidings' (buildings), 'incomes resources', 'proctect' (protect), 'buliding', and 'benefical' (beneficial). Word choice is generally appropriate and communication is not impeded by these lexical slips, but the frequency of spelling mistakes and occasional awkward collocations like 'generate incomes resources' keeps the score at a band 6.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional structures ('The more governments preserve historical bulidings, the more they can generate incomes resources') and concessive clauses ('Although restoration of town halls...'). There are several grammatical errors and punctuation issues present, such as comma splices ('Indeed, both views have vaild arguments, I largely believe...'), missing articles ('use as tourist attraction'), and subject-verb agreement issues ('Many people... to enchance'). Despite these errors, the sentences are generally understandable and the meaning is not obscured, reflecting the characteristics of band 6 grammar.
