IELTS Writing Task 2 question
Some people believe that old buildings, such as town halls and art galleries, should be restored, even though this can be costly. Others argue that governments should replace them with new, modern buildings.
Discuss both views and give your own opinion.
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 5.0)
Some people believe that historical buldings,such as town halls and art galleries,sould be repaired and save to the future.While,other people argue that authority should replace them with modern buildings.So both the view have it is own valid points,so, I will discuss it in the following paragraphs and give my opinion.
To begin with,restoring old buildings can protect the history and culture of the country.Also, they represent the identity of city.For instance,sometimes only painting,repair work,and safety updates are required to make an old buildings are reusable again.Also, restoring buldings can make city more attractive and unique.Many old building has it is own special designs and architecture.So ,it helps to attract more people and also,can help to local businesses.
On the other hand,replasing old building with modern facilities it can bring practical benefits.New building often provide better safety systems,improve electricity saving features, and more comfort facilities.For example,modern town hall may have easy to wheelchairal access. This can make service more easier for citizens.
In conclusion,old buldings should mainly restored because they represents culture while,modern buldings can improve their funtion.But however,i think government should not destroy the old buildings automatically.If buildings is too weak or dangerous,then replacing it must be necessary.
