IELTS Writing Task 2 question
Some people believe that old buildings, such as town halls and art galleries, should be restored, even though this can be costly. Others argue that governments should replace them with new, modern buildings.
Discuss both views and give your own opinion.
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 5.0)
A section of society thinks the government should replace heritage buildings with modern structures, while according to some individuls its should be restored regarding it will cost a fortune. Both have their merits and demerits, which I will discuss and give my own opinion on.
Maintaining an old structure is hard and expensive. However, it is an important hertiage to countrey, which shows an old art and crafts of centries. Many modern structure we build it comes from our old building. Especially, old building like art galleries have our history of art work, which we need to pass on our next genration. In my opinion, it is important to take care of old sturcture eveb if it is little costly.
On the other hand, modern infrasturcture is popular among the people nowdays. Everyone is going after flashy things, rather than understanding the importance behind it. The modern sturcture helps building a economy thats true and it has modern technolgies as well, which make things easier. Every countrey build highress buildings nowdays to show the world that how far their infrasturture has develope.
The balance beetween modern and old sturcture is also necessry. We have to embrace the old heritage as well, its government and our duty to spred awaeness about our history.
In conclusion, modern structures are valuable, however, we should never forget our roots and an old hertiage restoration is also needed for the future generations to see our history of art.
