Student answer (Band 6.0)
It has been opined by few individuas that the ancient buildings consisting of town halls and art galleries, should be refurbished, which in turn, is an expensive process, But, the rest are weighed towards replacing them with advanced infrastructure. In my opinion, both sides have their reasons for sticking with their ideology, but, mine is weighed more towards introducing new building facilities.
Commencing with the former notion of keeping the ancient structures, Most of the times, the old buildings are connected with spritual or religious beliefs of individuals. owing to which, it is hard for them to watch their spritual connections getting demolished, due to which they disregard with their demolition. As a part of human nature, every individual constructs its own connections wth the past, it can be their parents's house, where they spent their chldhood and lost their guardians, or a school where they used to go for their studies, or an art gallery where they used to spend their leisure time with their parents, teachers or friends visiting it and making unforgettable memories. other common reason stated is that we should stat connected to our roots, as our ancestors's actions, buildings or innovations are the major factor in the life we are living today.
On the other hand, we live in a world that is evolving and growing as the clock's moving forward, the rise of the population and the need of building structure or facilities such as flats, hotels, schools, hospitals, police or fire stations, shopping malls and so on is growing day by day. But, as we all know that the resources and space we have to do that is limited. so, to introduce new structures, we have to replace the old ones, which in turn, can keep the farming, transport and food sector to work without any negative impacts. for example, a new hospital is more useful or resourceful for the treatment of a growing population and disease rate as compared to a old mueseum where people go to spent their leisure time. moving further, the compition era is at its peak, so every nation has to build all the schools, hospitals, miltary facilities, sports academies to cope up with other nationS in the race of development and self sustainability.
To conclude, the infrastructure consisting of old buildings and hospitals have their own significance, in terms of sprituality, But, the need of advance and new structures is far more than it.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views—preserving old buildings versus replacing them with modern infrastructure—and clearly states the writer's personal opinion. Ideas are extended and supported, such as mentioning the religious or emotional connections people have with ancient structures and contrasting this with the practical needs of a growing population for hospitals and schools. However, there is a tendency to over-generalise in places, and some arguments lack deeper elaboration. Overall, the task is fulfilled to a Band 6.5 or Band 7 standard, as the position is clear throughout and both sides are adequately explored with relevant examples like comparing a museum to a hospital.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay displays a clear overall progression, with distinct paragraphs dedicated to the introduction, the first view, the second view, and the conclusion. Cohesive devices are used to signal transitions, such as 'Commencing with the former notion' and 'On the other hand'. However, referencing and punctuation are sometimes faulty, leading to run-on sentences and mechanical transitions (e.g., lowercase letters following commas). Paragraphing is generally appropriate, but the internal cohesion within paragraphs occasionally feels disjointed due to punctuation issues and over-reliance on basic connective phrases. This aligns well with the Band 6 descriptors.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common terms such as 'refurbished', 'infrastructure', and 'sustainability'. However, there are numerous spelling errors (e.g., 'individuas', 'spritual', 'wth', 'chldhood', 'mueseum', 'compition', 'miltary') and word-choice inaccuracies (e.g., 'disregard with their demolition', 'stat connected') which occasionally impede communication or distract the reader. While a flexible range is attempted, the persistence of basic spelling mistakes keeps the score at a Band 5.5 level.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, incorporating relative clauses and conditional elements. However, grammatical control is inconsistent. There are frequent issues with punctuation, such as comma splices ('...expensive process, But, the rest...', '...limited. so, to introduce...') and capitalization errors. While the meaning is generally recoverable, errors in subject-verb agreement and prepositional use ('connected with', 'disregard with') occur throughout the response. These frequent errors in grammar and punctuation place the text firmly in the Band 5.5 category.
