Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views—restoring old buildings versus replacing them with modern ones—and provides a clear position supporting the preservation of historical structures. The ideas are relevant, such as discussing economic benefits and cultural roots, but they suffer from under-development and lack deeper elaboration. For instance, the mention of the Taj Mahal is a good example, but its connection to revenue generation could be explained more thoroughly. The essay is cut short abruptly at the end, which prevents the conclusion from being fully realised, affecting overall task completion. Nevertheless, the main arguments are identifiable and directly address the prompt, aligning best with a Band 6.0 description.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear paragraph structure separating the introduction, body paragraphs, and the incomplete conclusion. Cohesive devices are employed, such as 'However, on the other hand' and 'For instance', but referencing and linking can occasionally feel mechanical or awkward, as seen in 'these builts like town halls'. Paragraphing is used to separate distinct ideas, though the abrupt ending disrupts the logical flow of the final part of the text. Overall, progression is generally clear, but mechanical cohesion and referencing issues keep this criterion at a Band 6.0 level.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The student attempts a range of vocabulary appropriate to the topic, including terms like 'indispensable', 'reconstructing', and 'infrastructure'. However, there are frequent spelling errors ('genaration', 'thier', 'mainatince', 'devolpment', 'bulding', 'repetedly') and inappropriate word forms or choices, such as 'old builts' instead of 'old buildings' and 'help to gave good revenue' instead of 'generate good revenue'. While the vocabulary is adequate to convey the basic message and attempts less common items, the high frequency of spelling and word-choice errors restricts the score to a Band 5.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as conditional and subordinate clauses ('Although this can be costly...'). However, grammatical control is weak, with frequent errors in articles, prepositions, subject-verb agreement, and punctuation. Examples include 'in lives of future generations', 'An authorities are having a good income', 'saving a money', and erratic spacing around commas and periods. Furthermore, sentences like 'i shall ellucidate both both the point of view' demonstrate persistent flaws in basic grammar. Because errors are frequent and occasionally cause minor strain for the reader, this warrants a Band 5.0.
