Student answer (Band 5.5)
There are so many historic buildings like townhalls, museums and art galleries need to be restored with a time. Alothough, such projects comes with lot of complications, as, any sort of upgrades can destroy historic touch of the building. Therefore, so many individuals argue that authorities should replace them with new and modern buildings. Whereas, I strongly believe that such building needs to be carefully upgrade instead of replacement.
The historic buildings are meant to describe about a history of that town or city, which attracts tourist from across the world. Therefore, replacing such buildings to a new modern is not a very good option. Whereas, upgrading the architecture by paiting the walls, modern furniture and lights can make these buildings perfect combination of modern historic building. The government authorities should hire the constructions company which is know for such prjects and should have completed such projects in the past. For example, there is a company named, Shiva construction, is well known for the renovation projects of historic place, I have recently visited Brentwood museum and got to know that the museum recently been renovated, where all the historic item placed into modern furniture.
Moreover, if such building gets replaced with the modern building, new generations are less likely to know about the history of their town. While in today's world, there are lots of new mudern building are built to attarct the tourist including Burj khalifa, Ferrari world and many more, thus few number of historic building should be preserved and upgrage them carefully to make them long lasting.
Overall, every small to big cities hold number of modern architech and continues to grow rapidly. Therefore, small cities have to have their historice building to educate their upcoming generation about the history by visiting and exploring such buildings

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your essay addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both views on whether old buildings should be restored or replaced and presenting a clear personal position that they should be upgraded. However, some ideas are more fully developed than others. For instance, the argument regarding the financial cost mentioned in the prompt is only touched upon lightly, and your supporting points, such as the example of Shiva construction and the Brentwood museum, tend to focus more on specific commercial entities rather than exploring the broader socio-cultural implications of preservation versus replacement. To move to a higher level, you should extend your arguments with deeper explanations and more generalised examples that fully address the economic and cultural aspects of the debate.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
Your response demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt to structure the essay into an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical and referencing is not always entirely clear, as seen in phrases like 'Moreover, if such building gets replaced' where pronoun referencing can feel slightly repetitive. Paragraphing is used, but the progression of ideas between paragraphs could be smoother and more logically connected. To achieve a higher score, you should ensure that cohesive devices are used more flexibly and subtly, guiding the reader effortlessly from one main idea to the next without relying on rigid transitional markers.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common items such as 'restored', 'complications', and 'architecture'. However, there are noticeable errors in word choice, word form, and spelling throughout your text, such as 'townhalls', 'Alothough', 'paiting', 'mudern', and 'historice'. Furthermore, some collocations are slightly unnatural, such as 'historic touch' instead of 'historic character' or 'historic charm'. These lexical inaccuracies do not seriously impede communication, but they restrict your score. To improve, you need to expand your control of less common lexical items, pay closer attention to word formation, and eliminate spelling mistakes.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
Your writing displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting structures like conditional and relative clauses. Nevertheless, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation, particularly involving articles, plurals, and subject-verb agreement. Examples include 'historic buildings like townhalls, museums and art galleries need' lacking necessary articles or plural markers, 'such projects comes' showing agreement issues, and 'replacing such buildings to a new modern is not a very good option'. These errors require the reader to occasionally pause, placing your control in the lower range. To reach a higher standard, you must aim for greater accuracy in basic sentence construction, article usage, and verb agreements while continuing to build complex sentence control.
