Student answer (Band 6.0)

Historical buildings are source of acquring practical knowledge related to past time. Some people thought there should be step taken out by higher authorities to renew old buildings no matter at what cost, but there are few individuals who are not agree with the reconstruction, and want that governement must spend money on new projects or buildings. According to my preception, preserving old buildings are also important as developing new or modern buildings. This essay will sheds light on my opinion followed by both views.

On the one hand, people who argue in the favour of old buildings assert that with the help of historical structures their childern will broaden the horizon of their knowledge. Though, in history classes teachers deliver lessons about past event theortically however, having practical experience by visting the real place is more useful. In addition to this, historical places earn revenue with the help of tourism which tend to increase the economy of the country. For example, there are entry fees paid by the tourist to visit art galleries, and that directly goes to government funds.

On the other hand, there are few individuals who are in favour of making new or modern building by replacing old ones justify their point by saying that in the new era there is no use of old buildings. Youngsters enjoy more going in new buildings. In addition, there are more facilities provided in the new ones. Government should spend money on making new hospitals and advanced libraries with having new technologies which are more crucial for everyone. For instance, metropolitans area needs more modern buildings due to high population, so that the services can be easily accessable to everyone.

As per me, governement should spend the amount on both buildings according to the need, there must be proper budget or finacial planning done by them so, they manage their fundings which would help to preserve the old buildings while constructing new.

As a consequence, old buildings plays significant role in persons life as it help to expand their knowledge about past events but new buildings also important in new era as it provides so many facilities to many people with no time. Higher authorities must pay attention to both of the buildings and choose their decision wisely.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both sides of the discussion and give a clear, balanced opinion: preserving historic buildings matters, but governments should also construct modern facilities according to need. Relevant support includes practical learning and tourism revenue for restoration, and hospitals, libraries, and population pressures as reasons for new buildings. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained. For example, the claim that “Youngsters enjoy more going in new buildings” is not clearly connected to why replacement is a sound public priority, and the tourism example could explain more directly how revenue supports preservation or public spending. Develop each main reason with a clearer explanation or a specific example, and make your final recommendation more precise about how governments should decide between competing needs.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a coherent overall arrangement: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, your opinion, and a conclusion. Signposting such as “On the one hand” and “On the other hand” makes the discussion easy to follow, and the ideas generally progress logically within each section. This meets the lower-band expectations well and shows some features of stronger organisation. However, transitions can feel mechanical, and the separate opinion paragraph partly repeats the balanced position already stated in the introduction and conclusion. Some links between ideas are also abrupt, such as moving from young people’s preferences to the need for hospitals and libraries. Use more precise links to show how each example supports the paragraph’s main claim, and integrate your opinion more smoothly into the discussion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “historical structures,” “tourism,” “advanced libraries,” and “financial planning,” so the main ideas are generally understandable. There are also attempts at less common expressions, such as “broaden the horizon of their knowledge.” However, inaccurate word forms, spelling, and collocations are noticeable and sometimes make the writing less natural: “acquring,” “preception,” “in the favour,” and “manage their fundings” are examples. Some wording is also vague, including “new era” and “no use of old buildings.” Aim for accurate, natural combinations rather than more elaborate phrasing; for instance, use “preserve historic buildings,” “allocate public funds,” and “modern facilities.” Proofreading spelling and checking collocations would make your vocabulary more precise and fluent.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “though,” “which,” and “so that.” This allows you to explain reasons and consequences, and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. However, errors in agreement, articles, verb forms, and sentence construction occur across the response. Examples include “Historical buildings are source,” “preserving old buildings are,” “This essay will sheds,” and “old buildings plays.” Some longer sentences are difficult to control, particularly “Government should spend money on making new hospitals and advanced libraries with having new technologies.” Work on matching subjects and verbs, choosing the correct verb form after modal verbs, and separating ideas when a sentence becomes overloaded. More accurate control of these patterns would make your varied sentence attempts clearer.
