Student answer (Band 5.5)

Some people claims that old buildings like galleries and town hall should not be demolish and preserved although it costs more. Others argue that that can be replaced by some other amenities like new and modern building. Some people are want to have it because they are so attached with their heritage and and other think the change is necessary. In my opinion, I choose to built a new facilities rather then to have old one.

Usually, Most of the people especially the older generation people think that they want to have some heritage buildings in their cities or town. Firstly, they know all the sacrifices behind that and always respect to it. For example, In India there is a old monument in old Delhi, and one day government pass a rule that they want to demolish it. But local residents are come together and didn't allow this to happen. Also,File a case against the local municple.

Secondly, mostly the younger people are not very much aware from their heritage as they always go with the trend . They want to experience new things and facilities where they can spend some time with there friends and with the closed one. For instance, New generation are likely want to have buildings like Mall , theatres and food palces .And I also go with this claim because I wanted things in life which I can see useful

In conclusion, Some people are closed to their heritage as they have some strong feelings towards it while other go with the flow and always want trendy things. I also appreciate the new things as they provide us some benefit in life.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both views and state your preference for replacing old buildings, so the response is relevant to the question. The example of residents opposing demolition in Delhi supports the preservation view, and the references to malls, theatres and food venues illustrate why some younger people favour modern facilities. However, the discussion is only partial: the reasons for preserving buildings are vague (“they know all the sacrifices behind that”), while the case for replacement is mainly about entertainment and usefulness. The opinion also needs clearer justification and a more direct comparison of heritage value against the cost and benefits of redevelopment. Develop each side with specific reasons and explain how your example supports your position.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and the paragraphs broadly separate the two perspectives. Basic signposting such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” “For example” and “In conclusion” helps readers follow the discussion. However, progression within paragraphs is uneven: the Delhi example moves abruptly from residents’ actions to “File a case,” and the second body paragraph shifts from describing younger people to your own view without a clear link. Some connections are repetitive or unclear, including “Some people are closed to their heritage” in the conclusion. Use topic sentences that state each paragraph’s main argument, then connect examples explicitly to that argument and your overall position.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “heritage buildings,” “local residents,” “demolish,” “facilities” and “modern building,” which makes the subject clear. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or imprecise, such as “closed to their heritage,” “go with the trend,” “closed one” and “useful” without specifying what is useful. Spelling errors such as “municple” and “palces,” along with inconsistent forms such as “town hall” and “Mall,” also reduce control. Build a more precise set of phrases for discussing preservation and redevelopment, and check spelling and collocations. For example, describe residents as “attached to their heritage” and modern facilities as “practical amenities.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, including a sentence beginning “although” and examples introduced with “For example.” However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently in verb forms, agreement, articles, plurals and sentence construction. Examples include “Some people claims,” “should not be demolish,” “the older generation people think that they want,” and “local residents are come together.” These errors sometimes make the intended meaning harder to follow. There are also sentence-boundary and punctuation problems, such as “Also,File a case” and the run-on transition before “And I also go with this claim.” Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and past-tense forms, and use shorter, complete sentences before attempting more complex structures.
