Student answer (Band 5.5)
This is commonly argued among peoples that old ancient buildings should be demolished and replaced with new modern buildings.I firmly argee that as the world is growing at supersonic speed old building should be restored at any cost as they are the only blueprint being left for future generation but I also believe that everything changes with passage of time and these sturctures should be replaced with the modern innovative buildings.
One the one hand I believe that these buildings should be preserved at any cost as they are the eminent source of knowledge for future generation. Moreover, the upcoming genration will be able to accure the knowledge as well as feel the sturcture which will help them getting connected towards there roots. For example, a survey was recently conducted by the university of waterloo by the canadian art and craft agency which represented that 75% of the immigrants feel more connected to there old homes even after living at the top luxury ammenties apartments.
On the otherhand I also believe that everything in this world comes to end after the passage of time hence the government should prioriotize spending the money in fixing the real world problems such as roads, hospitals, railways stations, bus stands etctecra .Additionally, health is wealth hence government should focus on making peoples live more effective and efficient by providing good health care system so that no one losses his/her near and dear one.For example, as per the statis avaible on the portal of government of Ukraine conducted by the ministry of healthcare 3 % of the ukraine population lost its lives because of no hospital avaible at the rural areas.
To conclude i would like to say that everything in this world is important nothing is a waste its just that elected bodies needs to make the correct decision for the people. These decisions needs to be fruitfull, effective and most importantly correct. As a native of a country its also a moral responbility of individuals to preserve and keep the valuable assets safe and secure provided by the ancestors.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both sides of the debate and state a position, particularly in the opening and conclusion: you support preserving historic buildings while also recognising that governments must respond to changing needs. The examples about cultural connection and healthcare spending are relevant in principle. However, the position is not fully consistent: the introduction says buildings should be restored “at any cost” but then says they should be replaced, without explaining when each option is appropriate. The case for replacement focuses on other public services rather than explaining the benefits of modern buildings, and the preservation argument is not clearly tied to town halls or galleries. Develop each view directly and clarify your own balanced position with specific reasoning.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. Signposts such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “To conclude” help readers follow the broad organisation. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear: the first body paragraph moves from preserving buildings to a survey about immigrants and luxury apartments, whose connection to historic public buildings is not explained. The second paragraph shifts from buildings to roads, hospitals, and healthcare, so the central comparison becomes difficult to track. Some linking expressions are repetitive or mechanically used, and references such as “these buildings” and “these decisions” could be more precise. Build each paragraph around one clear claim and connect each example explicitly to it.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You attempt vocabulary suited to the topic, including “preserved,” “future generation,” “prioritise,” and “valuable assets.” However, the range is limited by repeated general words such as “important,” “everything,” and “government,” while several inaccurate choices or collocations make meaning less clear. For example, “blueprint being left” does not naturally express the idea of historic buildings as evidence of the past, and “feel the structure” is unclear. Spelling errors such as “genration,” “sturcture,” “prioriotize,” and “fruitfull” are noticeable, as are informal or imprecise expressions such as “etctecra.” Use more precise terms for heritage and urban development, check spelling carefully, and choose collocations that express your intended meaning naturally.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “as,” “hence,” and “so that.” Nevertheless, complex sentences are often difficult to control, and frequent errors affect clarity. The opening sentence runs several ideas together without appropriate sentence boundaries, while “One the one hand” and “the upcoming generation will be able to acquire the knowledge … which will help them getting connected” show problems with sentence formation and verb patterns. There are also recurring issues with articles, plurals, and agreement, as in “the government should prioritise spending the money” and “These decisions needs.” Punctuation is inconsistent, especially missing spaces after full stops and commas. Practise shorter, accurately punctuated sentences first, then combine ideas using controlled subordinate clauses.
