Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both sides of the question and state a clear preference for restoring old buildings, arguing that they preserve culture, educate younger generations and attract tourists. These are relevant reasons, and the point that tourism can support the economy gives your view some development. However, the opposing case is only briefly explained: you mention new galleries and opportunities for young people to display creativity, but do not explain why replacing old buildings may be preferable or give a concrete example. The opening is also unclear about whether restoration should happen regardless of cost. To strengthen the response, make your position precise from the start and develop each side with a specific example and a clearer explanation of its benefits.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
There is a basic overall shape: you introduce the issue, discuss reasons for preserving old places, present the case for new buildings, and finish with your opinion. The contrast marker “On the other hand” helps signal the shift between views. However, most of the response is presented in one long paragraph, so the stages of the argument are difficult to follow. Several links are repetitive or awkward, including repeated uses of “because” and “in the result,” and the final sentence trails off after “and.” Use separate paragraphs for the introduction, each viewpoint and the conclusion. Then connect ideas with clear, varied transitions and ensure each sentence develops one main point.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “historical places,” “traditions,” “tourism” and “creativity,” and phrases such as “old is gold” show an effort to express a memorable viewpoint. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make the meaning unclear, such as “art councils,” “cultured place,” “fully glittery days” and “promotes our culture.” Spelling and word-form errors, including “ancciet,” “thier” and “value able,” also reduce accuracy. Build a more precise set of topic vocabulary and check common collocations: for example, say “historic buildings,” “preserve cultural heritage” and “provide opportunities for young artists.” Avoid idioms unless they fit the formal essay style naturally.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt some longer sentences and subordinate clauses, for example, “because from this we can also promotes tourism,” but these structures are often faulty and make the reader work to understand the intended meaning. Errors include incorrect agreement and verb forms (“we can also promotes,” “they believes”), missing or misplaced verbs (“are must be re build”), and problems with articles, plurals and sentence boundaries. Capitalisation and punctuation are also inconsistent, with several run-on sentences and fragments. These errors occur frequently enough to affect clarity, although the main ideas can generally be understood. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then add one subordinate clause at a time; check subject–verb agreement and punctuation when editing.
