Student answer (Band 5.5)
Old building such as halls and aart galeries should be repaired even the cost is more, argued by some people, other think that new and modern building should be made by governement. Although both sides have their own reasons, I believe both are equally important.
Those who support old buildings should be restored believe that it helps in education. If these building renovated then learners can know about our past culture and traditions as it broaden the knowledge of horizens. For instance, students go onto trips on through the schools and they can know about the history regarding art galleries and halls so another gneration get information how to do this. Hence, spending on old monument should be beneficial fror them as it not only incerease the economy of the country, but it provide good experience to the youngones.
However, others suggest that government should replace old buildings with modern and new building because new buildings provide effeciency and safety. These are constructed acoording the situation and needs of the society and customers. It has various types of facilities available such as fire safety standards, accessibilty rules and energy efficiency targets. In the old building, operating cost is too high beacause the system is outdated and it needs high mmaintaince cost and heating and cooling bills.
In my opinion, both have their own advantages. Government should spend equal amount of money on them. Old buildings provide knowlegde regarding our culture hertage and it attracts tourism and new building are built according to the new standards.
In conclusion, while ancient building are more beneficial, the modern buildings are equally siginificant. some people think that it should be restored because it helps in education and boost economy and other believe that new building has safety and made for the housing needs.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both sides of the discussion and give a personal view: the body paragraphs explain the educational and cultural value of restoration, then the efficiency, safety and running-cost advantages of modern buildings. Your conclusion also returns to both positions. This is relevant coverage, but some ideas are more fully explained than others. The point that restored buildings can support education is illustrated through school visits, while claims about boosting the economy and attracting tourism are asserted without a clear explanation or example. Your opinion that governments should spend equally on both is clear, but the basis for this balance could be developed further. Explain how decision-makers might choose which buildings to preserve and where new construction is more appropriate.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a coherent overall arrangement: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, your opinion, and a conclusion. The contrast between the main arguments is easy to follow, and signposts such as “However” and “In conclusion” help guide the reader. Some connections are less clear or mechanical, however. In the first body paragraph, “so another generation get information how to do this” does not clearly connect the example to the preceding point. The opinion paragraph repeats ideas already stated rather than extending the discussion, and the conclusion largely restates the introduction and body. Use referencing more precisely and make each paragraph add a distinct step to the argument.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “culture and traditions,” “safety standards,” “accessibility rules,” and “energy efficiency.” These choices help communicate the main arguments, but the range and control are limited by repeated general words such as “building,” “new,” and “good,” as well as inaccurate word forms and collocations. Examples include “broaden the knowledge of horizens,” “high mmaintaince cost,” and “ancient building.” Spelling errors such as “governement,” “effeciency,” and “hertage” are noticeable and sometimes make reading less smooth. Build a more precise set of terms for preservation, public facilities, and operating costs, and check spelling and natural word combinations when editing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a concession in “Although both sides have their own reasons” and a reason clause beginning “because.” The overall meaning is generally recoverable, but grammatical control is uneven, particularly in longer sentences. For example, “If these building renovated then learners can know” is missing a passive verb form, while “it not only incerease … but it provide” has problems with subject–verb agreement and parallel structure. There are also errors with articles, plurals, and sentence boundaries, as in “old building” and the lower-case “some” after a full stop. Practise accurate conditional and passive constructions, and proofread each sentence for agreement and complete clauses.
