Student answer (Band 5.5)

In today's rapidly changing world, some opines that historical buildings need replacement with new amenities however, other people believe that old buildings should be repaired at any cost.

This eassy will discuss the both point of view in the following paragraphs and I personally believe that we should mainted the old building but not permanently changed it.

In the past people used town halls for get to gather or doing such more important meeting. Even in the current days, people are using it for big events such as birthday parties or political meetings. And same art galleries also used for showing art and collection of our history. Because of that kind of adavantages this kind of building still use in today. Morover, People can't know the histories of past if they don't visit such kind of places. Also, some art related people can't show there talent infront of people and don't get recognised or employed.

Other argue that governments should replace them with new morden buildings such as super markets or movie theater. They believe that art galleries are a waste of time and place. They think that in today's digital world, all the information are available at online on a free and decide not to go in that places. Because of that, the old buildings are vacant and not used all the year which is not beneficial not only for government not for people. Instead of this. Government make some useable thing like supermarket or movie theater so that people get injoyment or entertainment after the tired day.

To conclue, I personally believe that we should mainted the building but not to replace it beacuse it is the place where we can get all the information related to past.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You discuss both positions and state your view: you support maintaining old buildings, while acknowledging the argument for replacing unused sites with supermarkets or cinemas. The examples of town halls hosting events and galleries displaying art and history are relevant. However, the discussion is only partly developed. The case for replacement is presented mainly as a claim that old buildings may be vacant, without a specific example or fuller consideration of costs, accessibility, or practical benefits. Your own position also needs clarification: “maintain the old building but not permanently changed it” is difficult to interpret, and the conclusion focuses mostly on historical information rather than weighing both views. Explain more clearly what restoration should involve and why it is preferable overall.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. This makes the overall arrangement coherent, and phrases such as “Other argue” signal a shift to the opposing view. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. Repeated openings such as “Because of that” and “They think” make the progression feel repetitive, while “Instead of this” does not clearly link the proposed replacement to the preceding point. The sentence beginning “And same art galleries” is also awkwardly connected to the town-hall example. Use clearer topic sentences and vary linking expressions, ensuring each sentence follows logically from the previous one.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “historical buildings,” “art galleries,” “political meetings,” and “digital world.” These choices help communicate the main ideas, but the range is limited and several noticeable spelling, word-form, and collocation errors make parts less clear. Examples include “mainted,” “morden,” “adavantages,” and “get injoyment”; “all the information are available at online” also shows imprecise phrasing. Some expressions, such as “useable thing,” are too general for an academic discussion. Build a more precise set of terms for preservation and redevelopment, and check spelling and natural word combinations when editing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a conditional structure in “if they don't visit such kind of places” and a contrast between the two positions. However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to sometimes make the reader work to understand the meaning. For example, “people used town halls for get to gather” has an incorrect verb pattern, while “art galleries also used” is missing a passive auxiliary. There are also problems with agreement and sentence construction in “all the information are available” and “not beneficial not only for government not for people.” Practise accurate verb patterns, passive forms, and paired structures such as “not only…but also,” then proofread sentence boundaries and punctuation.
