Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You address both views and state a position, but the opinion is not consistent: you first say “both situation are acceptable,” then conclude that modern buildings should replace old ones, before ending by agreeing with both sides. The reasons are relevant—historical buildings can attract tourists and support local economies, while newer buildings may be safer and offer better facilities—but they are mostly asserted rather than explained or supported with a specific example. The discussion therefore only partially fulfils the task. The response is also 235 words, below the 250-word minimum; 41 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. Develop each side with a clear example and make your own position consistent from the introduction through the conclusion.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a recognisable introduction, two body paragraphs presenting opposing views, and a conclusion. “On the one hand” and “On the other hand” help signal the change in viewpoint, so the reader can identify the basic structure. However, progression within paragraphs is uneven: several points are placed together without clear explanation, and the conclusion repeats the task wording rather than drawing the argument together. Some linking expressions are awkward or inaccurate, such as “In contracting,” and the final paragraph begins with a stray “g,” which interrupts the flow. Use each paragraph to develop one main idea in a logical sequence, and use accurate transitions and references to connect supporting details.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some topic-relevant vocabulary, including “culture and history,” “local economy,” “historical building,” “safe,” and “modern facilities.” These choices make the main subject understandable. However, the range is limited and several spelling, word-form, and collocation errors make parts difficult to read, for example “perspactive,” “bildings,” “preseant,” and “they not provied modern facilities.” Some phrases are also imprecise, such as “preserve their value” and “both situation.” Aim for accurate, natural combinations and check spelling carefully. More precise terms such as “heritage,” “structurally unsafe,” and “renovation costs” would help you express the contrast more clearly without relying on repeated general words.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more developed sentence forms, including “They help future generation to how live people in history” and “In my opinion, these argue are correct because lives are most important for us.” However, many sentences contain errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries, which sometimes make the intended meaning difficult to follow. Examples include “Government should restored old building,” “they things old building are not safe,” and “We can't ignored it.” Punctuation and capitalisation are also inconsistent, particularly where sentences run together. Practise building accurate subject–verb–object sentences first, then add subordinate clauses with correct verb forms. Proofread each sentence for a clear subject, a correctly formed verb, and appropriate punctuation.
