Student answer (Band 5.5)

Monuments plays a vital role in any country's history and culture. One group supports that old buildings like art galleries and town halls should be recovered at any cost. On the otherside, some people believe that authorities should change them with the new architectures. In my opinion, goverment should restore the buildings and maintain the value of it. In this essay I will discuss about both the views.

To start with, old buildings has its own historical values for people of the country. Some art galleries have old important painting for the rulers and history about that particular time and place. For example, Indian authorities recovered one part of the Taj mahal from an erosion. It is very valuable for their culture and history. Furthermore, cities old monuments is another source of income for a local people. It attracts tourists and help communities to spread a cultural value of that place to the different races. For examplify, The great wall of china has a important part of a people who lives in a city and they rely on tourists for their income.

Nevertheless, some people thinks that goverment should replace old buildings with the new one so its helps local bodies to save on their budget and they can use funds where it needed the most. Construct a new and state-of-the-art building is much cheaper than restoration in some cases. For exapmle, create a replica of building saves a lot of money and goverment add new technology in that building which allows them to create new sources of income.

To conclude that, authorities should recovered old buildings and maintain their historical values. But they can also create new replica of a old building. So, it helps tourists to understand a importance of the monuments.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both sides of the discussion and state a clear preference for restoring historic buildings. The first body paragraph gives relevant reasons, including cultural value and tourism income, with examples such as the Taj Mahal and the Great Wall. The opposing view is also included: replacing buildings may save money and allow modern technology. However, this side is less fully explained, and the claim that a replica is cheaper is not supported with a specific example. Your conclusion introduces replicas as a compromise, but this idea could be connected more clearly to your main position. Develop each reason with a clearer explanation of its consequences to make the discussion more balanced and convincing.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. Signposting such as “To start with,” “Nevertheless,” and “To conclude” helps readers follow the discussion. The progression within the first body paragraph is also understandable, moving from historical value to tourism. However, some linking is mechanical, and a few references are unclear—for example, “it” in “maintain the value of it” does not clearly identify what is being valued. The conclusion’s suggestion of creating replicas appears suddenly rather than following from the discussion. Use more precise referencing and connect the compromise idea to the reasons already presented.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “historical values,” “tourists,” “restoration,” and “state-of-the-art,” which helps communicate the main ideas. There are also attempts to use less common expressions, such as “spread a cultural value,” but some combinations are inaccurate or unnatural. Examples include “recovered” for buildings that are repaired, “change them with” for replacing them, and “a important part.” Spelling and word-form errors such as “goverment,” “exapmle,” and “examplify” also reduce accuracy. Aim for precise collocations and check spelling carefully; this will make your ideas sound more natural without requiring more complicated vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrast introduced by “Nevertheless” and a relative clause in “which allows them to create new sources of income.” The main meaning is generally understandable, but some grammatical errors occur across the response. Subject–verb agreement is inconsistent in “Monuments plays” and “old buildings has,” while articles and plurals are problematic in phrases such as “a important part” and “the new one.” There are also errors in verb forms, including “authorities should recovered.” Review agreement, articles, and verb patterns, then proofread each sentence. More accurate control of these forms would strengthen the range you are already attempting.
