Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both sides of the discussion and give a clear preference for preserving historic buildings in the conclusion. The reasons are relevant: you connect heritage sites with cultural identity and tourism, while the opposing view focuses on providing hospitals, schools and other facilities where space is limited. The Golden Temple example helps make the preservation argument more concrete. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained. For instance, the claim that modern generations are less interested in galleries is not supported, and the proposed replacement of old buildings with clubs and sports centres is not clearly linked to the earlier argument about essential services. Develop these points and explain how governments might balance preservation with practical needs.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, one paragraph for each viewpoint, and a conclusion. Paragraphs generally have a central focus, and signposts such as “On the other hand” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the discussion. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. The opening uses “Whereas” in a way that leaves the contrast sentence incomplete, and “Therefore” does not clearly follow from the preceding point about modern facilities. References such as “these place” and “these buildings” can also be vague. Improve progression by linking each example directly to the claim it supports, and use fewer formulaic transitions in favour of clearer logical connections.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You attempt topic-specific vocabulary, including “preserve,” “culture,” “historical buildings,” “tourism,” and “basic amenities,” which gives you resources to discuss both heritage and development. However, spelling errors and inaccurate word choices are noticeable and sometimes make the reader pause: “bulidings,” “aouthorists,” “amenties,” “scarifice,” and “ecomony” are examples. Some combinations are also unnatural, such as “attach new generation with their culture” and “give helping hand to a nation in development.” Aim for accurate, natural collocations and check spelling carefully. Reusing a smaller set of correctly controlled terms would be more effective than attempting several imprecise expressions.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You use both simple and complex sentence forms, including a concession in the conclusion and clauses introduced by “which” and “as.” This allows you to express contrasts and reasons. However, some sentence structures are faulty, and errors in agreement, articles, verb forms and punctuation recur. For example, “these buildings represent a town history and culture which crucial” needs a verb and clearer article use; “Golden Temple … represent” has a subject–verb agreement error; and “if they will eliminate” uses an unsuitable verb form after “if.” The opening contrast with “Whereas” is also incomplete. Review sentence boundaries and practise accurate complex clauses, especially conditionals and relative clauses, while checking agreement and articles.
