Student answer (Band 5.5)
Few individuals believe that old infrastructure should be restored, while others believe that governments should build new modern buildings instead. As per my opinion, I believe that old buildings should be reserved.
Firstly, the people who believe that old buildings such forts, art galleries and town halls should be renovated because it is symbol of history of that city. In this modern world, people like to see old monuments rather than the new modern buildings. Tourism might be attracted because of these attractions. If history is preserved than only the future generations will be able to see it and enjoy it and more importantly can learn about it. Moreover, It is observed that people can learn lot about history if the old building are preserved.
On the other side, some believes that modern building can be very helpful because modern buildings has many facilities such as elevator. Moreover, due modern buidling they can indrastructure to save lot of space. For example, when new building are created it is created using modern engineering. Main benefits are calculated parking space, efficient drainage sytem because old building were not constructed keeping these things in mind for future problems and possibilities. It is also equally true that restoring old infrastructure is costly instead building new buildings are more cost efficient.
Both the views has their pro and cons, but according to me I personally believe that old buildings and structure should be restored even though it is costly because it indicates the history of the city or town.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both sides of the discussion and state your position clearly: you favour restoring old buildings because they represent a city’s history. The first body paragraph gives relevant reasons, including tourism and the value of preserving heritage for future generations. You also explain the case for modern buildings through facilities, parking, drainage and lower costs. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained—for example, the claim that modern construction saves space is not clearly connected to a specific benefit. The discussion of restoration costs is brief, and the conclusion mainly repeats your opinion. Develop each side with a clearer explanation or a concrete example to make the response more fully supported.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, one paragraph for each view, and a concluding opinion. Sequencing phrases such as “Firstly,” “On the other side,” and “Moreover” help readers follow the discussion. Overall, the ideas are arranged coherently, but some links feel mechanical or unclear. For instance, “Moreover, It is observed” repeats an idea about learning history rather than advancing it, while “due modern building they can indrastructure to save lot of space” makes the relationship between the point and its explanation difficult to follow. The final paragraph also repeats the position without drawing the two arguments together. Use linking expressions selectively and make each sentence’s connection to the paragraph’s main point explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “renovated,” “monuments,” “future generations,” “modern engineering,” and “efficient drainage.” These choices show an adequate range for discussing heritage and construction. However, several word-choice, collocation and spelling problems reduce precision: “old infrastructure” is less suitable than “historic buildings” in this context, “people like to see” is informal and general, and “calculated parking space” does not express the intended idea clearly. There are also misspellings such as “buidling,” “indrastructure,” and “sytem.” Aim for accurate topic-specific phrases and check spelling carefully; this will make your arguments clearer and more natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a conditional structure in “If history is preserved than only the future generations will be able to see it” and a reason clause beginning “because.” Meaning is generally understandable, but some grammatical errors occur across the response. Examples include subject–verb agreement in “some believes” and “modern buildings has,” article and number errors in “it is symbol” and “the old building are preserved,” and the faulty construction “instead building new buildings are more cost efficient.” Sentence boundaries and punctuation also need attention, particularly the capital letter after “Moreover,” and the long final sentence of the modern-building paragraph. Practise accurate agreement, articles and sentence construction while retaining your attempts at complex forms.
