Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You present a clear preference for restoring old buildings and discuss both positions. The preservation argument is supported with relevant points: historic buildings can protect cultural heritage, attract visitors and generate revenue, and the Ojukwu bunker example helps illustrate this. However, the case for replacing buildings is only briefly explained, mainly that modern structures “look nice,” so the two views are not developed equally. Some claims, such as the causes of abandonment, are also unclear or insufficiently explained. The conclusion begins to restate your opinion but ends unfinished, which limits the sense of a complete response. Develop the opposing view with a specific benefit, then explain more fully why preservation outweighs it.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate discussion of the two views, and an attempted conclusion. Paragraphing helps readers identify the main sections, and connectors such as “However,” “For example,” and “In conclusion” signal relationships between ideas. Nevertheless, progression is uneven: the second body paragraph begins “In other words,” although it introduces a contrasting view, and several links between claims are unclear. Repeated references to “some individuals” and “old buildings” make the flow mechanical, while “This buildings” and “It” do not always refer clearly to their antecedents. The final sentence is cut off. Use contrast markers accurately, connect each example directly to its point, and ensure the conclusion is complete.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “heritage,” “generating revenue,” “renovates,” and “preserve,” which helps communicate the central argument. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate or awkward choices make parts difficult to interpret. “Archive buildings” is not the natural term for historic structures, “cause a fortune” is an unsuitable collocation, and “sight seeing centers” is imprecise. Spelling and word-form errors such as “asociey,” “sate,” and “riverline” also reduce clarity. Aim for precise, conventional expressions and check spelling carefully. Replacing repeated general words with accurate topic vocabulary will make the discussion clearer and more convincing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including clauses beginning “even though” and “which,” but control is inconsistent. Agreement errors appear in “Some individuals believes” and “Many ancient building … has been abandoned”; articles and plurals are also unreliable in “town hall and galleries” and “This buildings.” Sentence boundaries and punctuation cause further problems, particularly the comma splice and capitalisation in “Moreover … buildings. In my on opinion” and “Because a new and modern structure looks nice. but…”. The final sentence is incomplete. These recurring errors sometimes make the reader work to understand your meaning. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, article and plural use, and complete sentences before adding more complex structures.
