Student answer (Band 6.0)

Each and every country have some specific places which have imprints of old times by having the presence of old buildings and artisitic galleries which define a lot about the past centuries. A proportion of the society believes that constant efforts should be taken on timely basis to rejuvenate them on timely basis whereas other proportion of society wants the state to deconstruct them and replace them new contemporary one's.

Restoring the old structures act like passing a legacy to upcoming generations. Undoubtedly, there is huge quantum of knowledge in the historic books regarding the ancient times. However, having an opportunity to personally visit those places which possess the historic remais is authentically a matter of fortunate for those who know the significance. Additionally, it reflects the power of preservation to spread a knowledge of original roots and possessions. All those things which have a tendency to deplete but with man-made efforts they are replenished over a period of time describe the closeness of people towards their roots. Similarly, the taj mahal in India is from one of the seven wonders of this world and from ages it's marble is getting erroded by the acidic rain. At the same time, time-to-time efforts have been undertaken to revive this splendid monument which talks about pure love.

On the other hand, their revival demands a huge expenditure every time. This underlying reason frustrated the rationale human being to think about cost and benefit analysis. If the same amount would be spent on constructing modern buildings, their life expectancy is obviously higher without any additional spending on them. Furthermore, the money should rather be spent on other social infrastructures such as school, hospitals, roads. For instance if the students of government schools have limited access to quality education in tems of qualified teacher, the furniture and filtered water then what's the point to spend on old building.

According to me, the old buildings should be restored but not on the cost of ignoring emergent issues. Conclusively, to handle this situation wisely, the money should be invested firstly over the common causes and then from the remaining amount the authorities could revive the old strcutures.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

The response discusses both positions and gives a clear, qualified opinion: old buildings should be restored, but not at the expense of urgent public needs. The Taj Mahal example supports the preservation argument, while the discussion of schools and other infrastructure explains the case for prioritising spending elsewhere. This covers the task well. However, some points are more fully developed than others: the benefits of modern replacement buildings are asserted through their longer life expectancy, but the essay does not explain other advantages or give a concrete example. The final position is sensible, though the distinction between restoration and replacement could be explored more directly. More balanced development and specific support for the modern-building view would strengthen the response further.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph supporting restoration, a contrasting paragraph about cost and public services, and a conclusion stating your view. Signposts such as “On the other hand” and “According to me” help readers follow the argument, and the ideas generally progress logically. Some connections, however, feel mechanical or unclear. For example, “All those things which have a tendency to deplete…” is difficult to connect precisely to the preceding point about preservation, and “At the same time” does not clearly show the relationship between erosion and restoration. The conclusion repeats the priority of common causes without fully synthesising the two views. Clearer links between claims and examples, and more precise referencing, would make the progression smoother.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of vocabulary and attempt less common expressions, including “legacy,” “preservation,” “life expectancy,” and “social infrastructures.” These choices help address the topic, and the meaning is generally understandable. However, several attempts at formal or sophisticated wording are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “huge quantum of knowledge,” “frustrated the rationale human being,” and “on the cost of ignoring.” There are also spelling errors, including “artisitic,” “rema is,” “erroded,” and “strcutures,” which reduce accuracy. Some phrases are unnecessarily elaborate where a direct expression would be clearer. Aim for precise, natural collocations and check spelling carefully; this will let your vocabulary range communicate ideas more effectively.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The response includes both simple and complex sentence forms, including relative clauses and conditional structures, as in “If the same amount would be spent…” and “which possess the historic…” This shows an attempt to vary sentence structure. However, some errors in agreement, articles, verb forms, and sentence construction remain. For example, “Each and every country have” should use a singular verb, and “their revival demands” does not agree clearly with the plural buildings. The conditional sentence beginning “If the same amount…” is not formed naturally, while “the taj mahal… is from one of the seven wonders” has an inaccurate grammatical structure. These issues do not usually prevent understanding, but they limit control. Review subject–verb agreement and practise accurate conditional and relative-clause patterns.
