Student answer (Band 6.0)
it is debatable issue around the globe because some individuals in-the favour of reserve historical buildings and should be maintain again whereas others believes that government should built new buildings and replace them .im also strongly in the favour of reserve buildings and i will discuss both sides and explain some reasons to support my point of view.
first and foremost ,old buildings like art galleries and town buildings which has any historic value we should preserve them because these are our rich heritage and hold huge amount of information for our past culture ,custom and tradition and this knowledge is blessing for our upcoming generation they can know about their past things .
moreover ,it takes les maintenance amount to restore as compare to built new buildings .
On the other hand ,built new buildings is also good idea because new buildings will be loaded with all new technology and facilities which are necessary for every individuals nowadays. furthermore, to preserve old building takes too much time and money as compare to new hometowns because preservation is not a easy task . and these buildings also required repairs frequently and modern constructed facilities.
in my opinion i think government should repairs the older building for preserving our past and open it for public in reasonable price so that then can know about it and government can earn something to maintain it . making new and modern buildings is no means that older building should sacrifices or facing demolishing .

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both sides of the discussion and state a clear preference for preserving historic buildings, particularly in the opening and final paragraph. The points about heritage, learning about past cultures, modern facilities, and the cost and time involved in restoration are relevant. However, some ideas are asserted rather than explained: for example, the claim that restoration requires less maintenance than new construction is not reconciled with your later point that old buildings need frequent repairs. The benefits of modern buildings could also be developed with a specific example. To strengthen the response, explain these points more fully and make the comparison between the two options more consistent.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, a paragraph supporting preservation, a paragraph presenting the case for new buildings, and a conclusion with your opinion. Linking phrases such as “first and foremost,” “moreover,” and “on the other hand” help signal the progression, and the reader can follow the main argument. This already shows some flexibility in organising the discussion. However, connections between ideas are occasionally mechanical, and the relationship between the claim that restoration costs less and the later claim that it takes too much money is unclear. Some sentences also run together, weakening the flow. Use clearer sentence boundaries and transitions that show whether a point adds, contrasts, or qualifies an earlier one.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “historic value,” “heritage,” “preserve,” “facilities,” and “demolishing,” and you attempt to express ideas beyond very basic language. However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or awkward, as in “reserve historical buildings,” “loaded with all new technology,” and “new hometowns.” These choices sometimes make the intended meaning less precise. Spelling and word forms also need attention, including “maintain” where “maintenance” is intended and “sacrifices” in the final sentence. Build a reliable set of topic-specific phrases and check that each word fits its grammatical and contextual role.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including explanations with “because” and contrasts introduced by “whereas” and “on the other hand.” The main ideas are generally understandable, but grammatical control is inconsistent. For example, “others believes” has a subject–verb agreement error, while “old buildings … which has” also mismatches the plural subject and verb. Articles and verb forms are problematic in phrases such as “a easy task” and “government should repairs.” Punctuation and capitalisation are also unreliable, with several sentences beginning in lowercase and some clauses joined without clear boundaries. Practise accurate agreement, articles, and verb patterns, then proofread each sentence for a complete, correctly punctuated structure.
