Student answer (Band 5.5)
Vintage buildings has become a widely debated issue in the recent years. While some people believe that this kind of buildings shold be renovated, others argue that replce them with advance construction. This essay will discuss both views before explaning why I believe this type of structures should restored.
On the one hand, supporters of renovation argue that it helps to prevent the ancient memory. One of the main reasons for this is that in current time we have less amount of this kind of buidings and it should be save for the future generation. For exmaple we have art galleries but majority of modern type and we kept that art and some ancient work in mordern structure. As a result, we are not giving importance to them. Instade if we kept them in old renovated building it would be attraction.
On the other hand , opponents argue that replace them with modern infrastruture. This is mainly because it is costly to restore those monuments. For instance, for renovation need some advance technology to protect the base and carving if there any. Also need more workers and artiest to check them. Therefore more money waste on renovation rather then construct new.In my view, restoration is best way to kept them alive and based on that goverment can produce income.
for example in india there is one ancient temple called surya mandir which was restore in 2010 and goverment put that place as visiting place. That attract tourists and generate revenue which helps nation to build new and modern buildings.
In conclusion, although rehabilitation do cultural continuity,Some time need more money on this kind of historic buiding restoration. Overall , I believe that restoration is usually worth every penny.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both sides of the discussion and state a consistent preference for restoration, especially in the introduction and conclusion. The point that historic buildings preserve cultural memory is relevant, and the Surya Mandir example gives your opinion some support by linking restoration with tourism and revenue. However, the two views are not developed equally: the case for replacement is mainly that restoration costs money and requires workers and technology, without explaining what practical benefits a new building would provide. Some supporting points are also unclear, such as the claim that modern galleries mean “we are not giving importance” to historic art. Explain each side more precisely and connect examples directly to the argument to make the response more fully developed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. “On the one hand” and “On the other hand” help signal the change in perspective, while the example of the temple follows your opinion. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow. For instance, the link between modern galleries, the preservation of ancient work, and the attraction of renovated buildings is not made explicit. The opinion and temple example also appear in the same paragraph as the opposing view, which blurs the organisation. Use clearer paragraph boundaries and ensure each sentence develops the paragraph’s main point. Check punctuation around linking expressions, such as “Therefore,” and avoid relying on formulaic transitions alone.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “renovation,” “ancient,” “monuments,” “cultural continuity,” and “generate revenue.” These choices show an effort to discuss heritage and public spending, but inaccurate spelling and word choice are noticeable and sometimes make the meaning harder to understand: “buidings,” “shold,” “replce,” “mordern,” and “artiest” are examples. Some phrases are also unnatural, such as “prevent the ancient memory,” “advance construction,” and “every penny” in this context. Build a reliable set of collocations for heritage and development, and check spelling carefully. More precise wording would help you express the ideas without relying on vague phrases such as “this kind of structures.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You use both simple statements and attempts at more complex forms, including “While some people believe…” and “although rehabilitation…”. The main ideas can generally be followed, but errors in sentence structure, agreement, articles, and verb forms recur. For example, “Vintage buildings has become” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “this type of structures should restored” is missing a necessary verb form. The sentence beginning “For renovation need…” is also incomplete, and “That attract tourists” does not agree with its subject. Some punctuation and capitalisation errors further interrupt the flow. Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, then check agreement and articles; this will make your varied sentence attempts more controlled.
