Student answer (Band 5.5)
Based on the perspective of others, old buildings, like the town halls, and art galleries should be refurbish even if they are expensive. On the contrary, some beieve that they should be replaced by modernize establishments.
Town halls and old art gallery must be restored because they reflect the old ways and culture of people in the old days. History is what makes the present. We should value old things specially art galleries and town halls, they gives us a timeline and a story of what happened back days. For instance, the townhall, there are important events took place in that building, like passing an important memo or law which help the commnunity or the art gallery showcasing the talent and gives us a story of what took place in that place.
Additionally, renovating old building must cost a lot for a budget, some suggest they should be replaced by a modernized buildings. We replace the old with new and instead of allocating the budget for improving old building, it should be place in improving services in the community for faster service and better quality.
In my opinion, improving old establishments is a better choice, we can improve our services and also appreciating history.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You address both positions and state your preference for restoring older buildings: “improving old establishments is a better choice.” The reasons about preserving culture and directing funds towards community services are relevant, but they are brief and not fully explained, so the discussion remains partial. The example of a town hall hosting important events begins to support your point, yet it is unclear how this history benefits people today; the opposing view also needs a specific example or fuller explanation. The response is 47 words below the required minimum, which limits the space available to develop both sides. Extend each main idea with explanation and a relevant example, while keeping your opinion clear throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, a paragraph supporting restoration, a paragraph presenting the case for replacement, and a concluding opinion. This makes the main line of argument easy to follow. You also use signposts such as “On the contrary” and “Additionally” to show shifts between ideas. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. For example, “For instance, the townhall” does not lead smoothly into the example, and the long sentence that follows combines several points without clear boundaries. The conclusion is relevant but very brief. Use clearer sentence divisions and link each example directly to the claim it supports to make progression more consistent.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “restored,” “culture,” “renovating,” “budget,” and “community.” These choices help communicate the central ideas, but the range is limited and some word forms or combinations are inaccurate, such as “should be refurbish,” “modernize establishments,” and “a modernized buildings.” There are also spelling errors, including “beieve” and “commnunity,” which reduce accuracy. Repetition of “old,” “building,” and “improving” also makes the argument less precise. Build a wider set of topic-specific expressions and check whether each word fits its grammatical form and usual collocation; for example, distinguish “restore a building” from “replace it with a modern building.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, and the overall meaning is generally understandable. However, errors occur frequently in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction. Examples include “should be refurbish,” “they gives us,” and “old building must cost a lot”; these make some statements difficult to process. The sentence beginning “For instance, the townhall” is a fragment, while the following sentence joins several ideas with weak punctuation. There is also a comma splice in “we can improve our services and also appreciating history.” Practise forming complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check agreement and verb patterns. Shorter, accurately punctuated sentences would improve control before you attempt longer structures.
