Student answer (Band 5.5)

Historical buildings, art galleries and town halls played an important role in the tourist attraction and overall beauty of the city. I would like to talk about different people thoughts. Some think that these buildings should be revamped despite it takes much spending but other people prefer that they should be revamped with advance buildings.

History or civilization is an important part of any society. Preserving it allows the younger generation to get to know how their ancestors used to live, what kind of art they preferred. In addition to this these town halls, old buildings and art galleries also serves as a tourist attraction for foreigners as well as for locals. However for restoring those buildings government has to spend quite a lot amount but we can mitigate this thing by using some strategies, like implying entry ticket, then open shops to sell souveniers and other related products that can generate the profit.

On the contrary if government demolishes these buildings with he newer it may help utilizing the space better. For example town halls can be modernized and used for commercial events, or you can make high rise building in replace of the old buildings which can accomodate more people.

In my point of view, we have to preserve those buildings instead of demolishing. As I like to study about history and enjoy visiting art galleries. For example when I was in 10th class, we had a first time school visit to Taxila Museum. I became enlighted to know that how advance we are in the current er compared to our ancestors, like they used to have swords, they use to make mind blowing wooden architecture from hands.

The overall conclusion is since there are more advantages then disadvantages that's why in my opinio we need to preserve these buildings.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You discuss both positions and make your preference clear: you support preserving historic buildings, while noting that replacement could make better use of space. The reasons about educating younger generations and attracting visitors are relevant, and the Taxila Museum example gives your view a personal illustration. However, the replacement argument is brief and its benefits are asserted rather than explored; explain, for instance, how modern facilities or commercial use would meet public needs. Your preservation argument also needs more precise support: the proposed tickets and souvenir shops are possible funding sources, but you do not consider whether they would cover restoration costs or remain accessible. Developing these points more evenly would make the response address the task more fully.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, a paragraph supporting preservation, a contrasting paragraph on replacement, and a conclusion stating your opinion. Connectors such as “In addition to this,” “However,” and “On the contrary” help signal relationships between ideas. Some links are mechanical or unclear, though. The opening says you will discuss “different people thoughts,” which does not clearly introduce the two positions, and “The overall conclusion is since…” makes the final relationship between the reasons and your recommendation difficult to follow. Within paragraphs, ideas sometimes move quickly from a claim to an example without explaining the connection. Use clearer topic sentences and refer back to the central issue of restoration versus replacement as you develop each point.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “preserving,” “tourist attraction,” “commercial events,” and “high rise building,” and you attempt less common expressions such as “mitigate” and “ancestors.” However, several choices or collocations are inaccurate or awkward, which limits precision: “revamped with advance buildings” does not clearly express replacement, and “quite a lot amount” is not a natural way to describe cost. Spelling errors such as “souveniers,” “accomodate,” and “opinio” also reduce control. Aim for accurate topic-specific phrases, such as “restore historic buildings,” “modern replacements,” and “generate revenue,” and check spelling carefully. This would make your ideas easier to understand without needing more elaborate vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a conditional example beginning “if government demolishes these buildings” and a relative clause in “which can accomodate more people.” The main ideas are generally understandable, but some errors in agreement, articles, verb forms, and sentence construction remain. For example, “these town halls…also serves” needs a plural verb, while “despite it takes much spending” does not form a correct clause. The sentence beginning “As I like to study about history” is a fragment, and “I became enlighted to know that how advance we are” has an awkward clause structure. Practise building complete sentences with accurate subject–verb agreement and use a range of complex forms only when their structure is secure.
