Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You cover both years and identify important overall features: Japan has the highest share in both years, while Nigeria is lowest in 2050, and you report the main figures accurately. The comparisons for 2000 and 2050 also include several relevant countries. However, the overview is unclear in places: “Japan is falling at the highest stage” does not accurately describe the data, since its share is predicted to rise from 23% to 43%. The statement that India and Brazil are “in last” in 2000 is also imprecise, as Mexico and Nigeria have lower figures. To strengthen the response, state the broad trend that every country is expected to have a higher proportion of older people, and distinguish the lowest values in each year clearly.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for the two years. This makes the information easy to locate, and the comparisons within each year generally follow a sensible order. Cohesion is less successful in the overview, where “while examiner also predict” is unclear and the contrast does not connect smoothly to the preceding point. The final paragraph also groups countries as having the “lowest percentage” without making the ranking or comparison fully clear. Use more precise links between ideas and organise each data paragraph consistently, for example from highest to lowest. This would make progression smoother and reduce the impression of a list of figures.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a reasonable range of task-related vocabulary, including “percentage,” “stood at,” “remain,” and “respectively,” so the data is usually understandable. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural: “falling at the highest stage” does not express the highest figure, “in last” is not idiomatic, and “top position” is repeated. There are also spelling errors such as “reletively.” Choose standard chart language and use it consistently, such as “recorded the highest proportion,” “ranked lowest,” and “was projected to rise.” Greater accuracy with these common expressions, alongside checking spelling, would make the description more precise and natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including comparisons joined with “while,” and the main figures can generally be understood. Some errors in sentence structure and verb forms remain. For example, “Japan will remain on top position with 43 percent of people are more than 60” combines two clause patterns; write “Japan will remain in the top position, with 43% of its population aged over 60.” In “Nigeria is only country will have,” the article and clause structure need correction: “Nigeria will be the only country to have…” The phrase “US has 16% population that fall over 60” also needs a clearer grammatical construction. Practise accurate clauses with “with,” “while,” and “whereas,” and check articles and agreement.
